You could take her out to lunch if she's physcially able to go. My aunt is 84, she's in pretty good shape and she loves to lunch with the ladies.

I would make and bring her a meal. Chicken parm, garden salad, a green veggie, a portion of dessert and a rose.

I am totally confused by this thread. The OP is asking advice about birthday gifts for someone's birthday, but in reality is actually asking about her own birthday. HUHHH?

@catwhisperer- No. One poster made the assumption and wished halfpint1 a happy birthday. I posted what I would give halfpint1 if it was her birthday. We have no idea when halfpint1 will celebrate her birthday.

Like my own mom, I bet you actually have a house full of everything you need. My mom loves to receive pretty flowers, she has never turned down a box of chocolates or chicken from KFC!

Most of all my mom loves for us to spend time with her on her birthday, and just talk about fun things that keep her smiling.

Whatever you might be wishing for on your birthday, I hope Bob knows, and sees that you get it! Very best wishes to you, from me!

When my Mom moved to assisted living, she had to downsize, giving me most of her old photo albums. On her birthdays, up until her last one at 90, I'd bring a few albums and we'd sit for hours discussing the old days, identifying relatives I never knew and telling funny stories about times gone by.

I would spend the day with her --- doing with her whatever she would like!!!!! And I don't think you can ever go wrong with a big bunch of fresh, bright flowers! If she has no health restrictions, a box of her favorite candy, too!

Then --- I would tell her --- I am all yours for the day! Your wish is my command!

Impossible to say since I don't know a single thing about the lady. 82 doesn't tell me anything. It's short notice but I would not give her a gift card unless she's on a fixed income and money is a problem or her. If that's the case, a grocery store gift card is a good idea. Otherwise, stay away from gift cards and and, of course, candles. My bff is 76 and she has everything a woman could possible want. She's someone I would give a lovely card and with a handwritten note and I'd arrange to take her out to dinner or lunch, at a time of her choosing.

yes today is her actual birthday. This is a post from @halfpint1 from a

previous thread. I saw it and remembered that her big day is the

same as David Venable's birthday.

Not sure why she doesn't return and see all this and respond.

Thank you all for your wishes. I couldn't fool you. I am lucky my son lives near me and we will probably go out to dinner. There is no one left in my family. I just looked out side and it is foggy. Can't remember when I have seen that. Thanks again for answering.
