Done with Wal-mart.....

I will NEVER return to that store. Ok i only go maybe once ar twice a year, i buy halloween candy there, and maybe laundry soap. Well today i wanted to return 2 extra bags of un-opened candy, about 24.00. I waited about 20 minutes in long line, then left to do other errands. When i got home a few hours later, something told me to check my account. What i saw was a DEBIT for 24.00 and then a credit for 24.00. Which means for all you smart ladies,....i was never given my money back.

So i called and was told to come back to store with my reciept... about a 20 minute drive back. I did and asked for a manager. I showed him my account and what happened, and he said i would need to bring a bank statement with date and time of transactions....because they need to know WHEN it took place. I was very upset, and the lady who did the return was very snotty to me and said " I would never do that".

i called my bank then and there, Lucky to get a human, and she verified the transcations seconds apart.....I was given my 24.00 back. BUt really it wasn"t the small 24.00 amount to me at all, it was how I was treated.

I sure wouldn't want to lose $ 24.00, just think how many people they do that to who do not catch the mistake.

I was done with Sam's Club. The checker charged me twice for an item which I needed to returned. Even though I had a receipt and the items, you would have thought I committed grand larceny. The manager started yammering about having to look at videotape. It took awhile but I finally got my money back and have not been back to a Sam's Club.

I personally would file a complaint with their corporate office. You should be able to do that on line with your receipt #.

The Walmart in- store returns system really is awful I,ordered something online (a blanket) was charged for one blanket, but I received two. I called their order center, was thanked for my honesty, and asked to return the second blanket to the store. Would you believe that because I wanted no money back, the person at returns accused me of "Lifting" the item and having remorse? I was asked to step aside while security was called. The whole situation took about 30 minutes to resolve. I vowed never to return. The manager took the side of the cashier. I will donate any future mistakes from any place.

Same thing happened to me at Costco. Except I did not return the item. Took almost half an hour for them to give me a credit.

Half the people in the world are out to fleece Walmart and take advantage of them in a million diffetent, unique ways. It's no wonder they're paranoid.

@Kachina624 Although you may be correct, they need to figure out a way to NOT alienate their "honest" customers who just go there to shop.

I wonder if that person did the debit....and took the $24 for herself, and then did the credit and has been pocketing these errors.

I am the suspicious kind, especially when they get indignant when called out on making a mistake, instead of feeling bad that they had overcharged you.

That manager really missed a good opportunity for great customer service. He should have (and probably has the power to), offered you an apology, a gift card of $25, and the credit to your account - especially since you had to drive 20 minutes back to have them fix THEIR error.

If he had done that you probably would feed a lot better about Walmart and see yourself shopping there again, instead of being treated like some sort of scamming customer.

The biggest concern for me is that you were allowed to return candy (even though it was unopened) assuming it was re-stocked. Too many variables for safety in this scenario - I wouldn’t want to buy it.

So many places and people that would love receiving some candy through donation.

@CAcableGirl2. You are correct in your assessment of the manner in which this situation was handled. Wal-Mart is usually better than that.

I had a hang-up trying to place a grocery pick-up order last week and had to call their 800 number. I mentioned that I'd been having trouble entering new orders and all my recent old orders were missing including one where i was supposed to get a credit for 1/2 gal of milk. The CSR instantly gave me a $10. credit with no verification at all. He fixed my problem and apoligized. Nicely done.

Goodness😲! I am so sorry to read some of your posts, and have had similar experiences of being overcharged, but nothing of this magnitude. I can certainly understand your frustration regarding the ambivalence of the employees.😕

This doesn't sound like the Walmart I know. Walmart doesn't want to lose customers and from my experience will bend over backwards to please.

Not all managers in stores have their lights on, though. Walmart hires locally and sometimes they can't find good ones.

Sounds like CS made a mistake and the manager made you prove you were innocent.

I would report the manager to Walmart. Call 1-800-Walmart or email your experience highlighting their rudeness and implying you might be guilty of pulling a fast one.

Wow, I can't stand that! Implying a customer might be a thief is one of the worst things a retailer can do, IMO.

Similar story, different outcome. Two times in the past month.

One time received a large pack of Charmin toilet tissue that I didn't order. Online CS told me to keep it, give it to a neighbor, relative, friend, or return it to my local Walmart.

Second time received 32 cans of Friskees in the box. CS told me the same thing.

Hadn't been charged for either one.

On returning both to Walmart, I thought the same thing would happen to me that did happen to you. "No way", I said to myself. I'd be accused of stealing so I didn't return them.

Not only that, it was their error. If they wanted it back, send someone to pick it up or pack and return it to where it came from.

These retailers wanting us to use our gas and time to drive to their local stores or use our time and packing tape to send it back to correct THEIR errors is for the birds.

Sounds like a key strike error on the part of the cashier resulting in a zero transaction. There is no way the cashier could have "collected" on a credit card transaction in any case.

This is unreal. People think that they can "be very upset", demanding to speak to a manager, stand in line 20 minutes, (returning food of all things,) and then accuse the people helping them of stealing their money. You should be thankful you got your money back on a food purchase.

But it's Walmart, so hey. Bottom of the barrel, local folks working there after all. /s

By all means, whenever this happens to anyone, instead of realizing that they're human too, and get treated crappy by many customers, call and make a complaint! Make sure and put their livelihood in jeopardy, because you had your feelers hurt over a miscommunication and/or simple misunderstanding.

Perhaps they need to train cashiers, so they understand what they are doing, before they unleash them on the public

I rarely return things @Spacrazy but I once picked up the wrong type of popcorn (and returned it unopened) thinking they could restock it. The CS rep told me food products have to be disposed of. I felt bad and have been much more conscientious of my purchases since then.
