Party game recommendations, please.

Our friends suggested we start a regular Game Night, once a month. There would be 6-8 of us, couples and singles. I'm completely out of touch with this sort of thing. Can anyone recommend appropriate party games for an an aged 60+ group of friends - emphasis on conversation and laughter, not competition. I don't mind investing in some good ones.

@house_cat Well of course...cards, charade, and one of my friends plays "Bunco" with friends monthly. Why not have an evening get together with your friends as a planning session to gather ideas for what games your friends would like to play?

If it was me...these would be my choices for a monthly friend get together:

a picnic maybe at a local park

watching a movie or reading a book as a group and then discussion

a monthly physical activity...depending on abilities and a pot luck afterwards

getting together to go see a movie, play, or local attraction

Unfortunately, these are not games. But I'm sure what ever you chose to do, with good friends, laughter, and some food available....you'll have a great time!

house_cat, we like to play Scattergories. All ages can play. My DH and I play Euchre with different friends. Apple's to Apple's is a fun game. Our dgc have every game imaginable. So we have played lots of games over the years. They are 14,16 &18, but we started playing games with them as young as 3 year olds.

I've never heard of Euchre, I'll look into that - I remember playing Apples to Apples with my niece when she was very young - perhaps that was a kids' version? In any case, I'm making a list and I'm going to Target or Walmart this week to see what I can find.

If you want something super, DUPER easy to play where no one has to do a lot of thinking, get the LCR game...pic below. You can get it for like seven or so bucks at Walmart. It is a fun dice game with easy peasy rules. Our Bunco group now only plays this game. Bunco was too much counting, keeping score, moving from table to table, etc. We each put in five dollars and we usually have around twelve people or more. So at the end of the game one person wins at least sixty bucks. And at said end, it can get very exciting!

I recommend this game to all of you. It is even good for smaller kids who can roll dice. In the process they learn their right from their left.

BTW, if you do go to shop for this game, it is a very, very small tin container. Don't go looking for some big thing or you'll never find it.

Thank you! I will definitely pick that up. I've played Bunco and like it, but I have a very small home and the moving from table to table is not doable.

I do! LOL!!!! If only it were real money! I am very aggressive and buy stuff then others have to PAY ME! People who know me won't play any more! LOL!!!

Well if you don’t mind being risqué Cards against humanity. I just played this Thursday with my neighbors. Ages 62 to 81. There was 6 of us. I never laughed so hard. Everyone loved it and are still mentioning the game!

PICTURE .... It's a game where you draw for your team on a large piece of paper, a saying or movie or book title. I can't think of the right name for it. It's so much fun. No one really cares who wins. A lot of laughing. I just need help with the name.

It's more fun to wait your turn while everyone gets to play along while they wait. I think it's the most fun ever and no card tables.

It is fun and there's no need to purchase the game. At school we use small white boards. I can buy one good sized white board and just Google a list of topics. Thank you for the reminder.

Euchre is my favorite or Kangaroo (progressive rummy played with 2 decks).not sure if rummy is spelled correctly, it looks weird.

Pit is a fun game but you may have to find it at a garage sale as it is old school. It's a commodity bidding and trading game great for multiple players. It is great fun.

just looked this up because i have never heard of it before. just read that it has been around since 1904.

it sounds interesting and fun and fast paced.

found it on amazon so i may have to order it.
