Can't you read the meter and submit your own reading? Or go to the utility's website and see what you owe. Much easier than waiting for a paper bill.

My utilities are all on one bill, except gas. Due dates vary slightly each month. I think that’s normal. I go online to pay. I imagine you can pay online in most cities/ municipalities. I also signed up to get email reminders of the due date.

I guess we are fortunate to know that our water bill will be the same amount every month so last month when my bill did not arrive (thinking post office put it in another box in the neighborhood) I just wrote the check for the same amount as the previous month and mailed it in.

My water bill was very low for several months. I assumed it was due to a rebate or something. Then I got a huge bill with no explanation.

i called them afraid I had a leak. They explained that a part was bad on the meter and causing the lowest reading possible. Then they had to make up for the rest.(probably guessed). They fixed the meter.

I pay mine automatically from my checking account. Saves postage and slow post office delivery.

I'm in a town home and get my water bill bill every 3 month...it's always around $20/month. Heavy usage in summer - still the same. Low usage in winter - still the same. I can live with that. No meters to read....works for me.

Check with your utility company. I'm sure you could have them do an Auto Payment which would save you the anxiety. Surprised you don't know what your bill would be. Imagine water usage is about the same; especially in winter months.

Works for me with all my utilities, cable, newspaper, Church pledge, and other monthly expenses.

ETA: This is a huge problem for you?

In my area, this situation is really not such a big deal. If I didn’t receive my bill, and forgot to pay this month, that amount will be on next months bill with a $5 late charge.

Three months of no payment starts the actual letters, and service is usually cut off by the 5th month of no payment.
