Yes, all the time! All I have to do is listen to a song I love or hear a song on the radio, or TV and It immediately takes over my mind!

Just tonight I was watching a repeat show on Carole King, the great song writer. I was singing along with each very familiar song and enjoying. It has been over for about an hour and Natural Woman has been in my head since. For some reason out of all the terrific songs, that great one stuck. This is but one song out of so many which has stuck with me.

Yes and I think repetitive lyrics are written for that reason. To get you to love a song and buy it but I stopped listening to music while driving long ago.

Music with a fast beat can get a person revved up and then you can start to drive too fast or erratic. I prefer to pay attention to the road listening for ambulance, fire or police as well.

@ Montanatotally there with you. My torment is chandelier, chandelier, chandelier, chandelier,..............and I ALWAYS hated that song!!!

Yes, it has always happened to me. Some days I wake up with a song going through my head and I can't even remember where it came from or where I heard it.

I don't mind if it's a song I like. But sometimes it can be a commercial from tv. It does ware off in time. Christmas music is enjoyable!!

So if you find yourself battling a pesky earworm,

here is an “evidence-informed” experimental

treatment technique to help:

Identify the song playing in
your head.
Search the Internet and find a complete
version of the song.
Play it and listen to it. Spend that
three minutes focused on it. Don’t
do something else while it plays
and limit yourself to half your
attention; you might doom yourself
to making it your permanent
lifetime mental soundtrack.
After the song is finished, immediately
engage in a cognitively-engrossing
activity. The researchers used
Sudoko on their participants,
but you could also try crossword
puzzles, word games, or some
other activity that absorbs your
attention and forces your brain
to sweat a little bit. Avoid doing
something that lets your mind wander!

(If you are driving, assuming you stopped
the car to search the Internet and
self-administer the whole song, find
something to do mentally while you
drive. Doing mileage calculations
in your head is useful—figure out
how long it will take you to reach
your destination, going at different
speeds. This will fill up some of that
cognitive capacity that could otherwise
wander back to the song.)
Finally, try my strategy of then replacing
that earworm with other, favorite,
well-known songs (although this
might be an individualistic strategy).

@Jackhound Mom This Christmas I kept hearing “Santa Claus is Comming to Town” in my head. I am hearing disabled being deaf in one ear and a hearing aid in the other. I can’t hear many songs now and really miss them. I must concentrate to hear the songs.

This year I heard it in a chorus with a complete symphony!

It happened with other songs also but “he sees you when you're Sleeping “ really got annoying ! It stopped when the Holidays were over.

Just a side note on Just One Look. I love that song and have since it came out and was a big hit. My closest dearest friend passed two years ago, we shared a friendship of 55 yrs. Songs always remind me of a time, place or person. She loved Just One Look and whenever she heard it, sang along with a smile on her face!!!!! It has always reminded me of her. I don't mind when that song lingers in my mind because it brings back such wonderful memories of a friend who left a void in my heart.
