Anyone Getting Christmas Cards Yet

Received one Friday and another being delivered today. Friday's card was expected. DH has a cousin who prides herself on her cards arriving the day after Thanksgiving. The second card is a "fall off your chair" surprise. It is from a childhood friend of DH whose greeting cards always come after the event be it birthday or holiday.

With all the advanced shopping and decorating, I am getting anxious. I got our cards on the kitchen table waiting for DH. He does the cards, I do the tree.

Yes, got a very nice one from the paper delivery man (hint hint). I will send him a thank you tip. He's very reliable.

I need to get mine out! I've got the cards, stamps, address book. Need to get the fingers moving.

I don't usually start receiving any until after December 1, it seems. And I don't mail mine until the 10th.

i think last year i received maybe around 30? i expect to get less this year. i no longer send them out. i have received 4 THANKSGIVING cards, but no christmas cards yet.

@Sweetbay magnolia Treasure your paper delivery man. We can't get any newspaper delivery in our area. It's digital or nothing. They don't even sell the Sunday paper at the gas stations or grocery stores any longer. Its really upset the elderly who don't use computers.

yes... one from my insurance agent and another from my Roofer and window installer. That will be probably about it. I do not mail out XMas cards.

I think I live in this world, and I still like Christmas cards and newspaper delivery.

Getting the paper in the AM in my robe and slippers is something I (strangely enough) enjoy and am willing to pay for. I walk by my garden and pull a few weeds, take a glance across the street to see if my neighbor has picked his up (just checking - there are health issues). Sometimes I talk to the paperman; he's very nice, and so is his wife.

I get a lot of content online, too. It's a wonderful world!

I'm getting my cards out. First step in that direction.🎄

Yes, thankfully. Our major paper doesn't deliver to our area period, so no local libraries get it. I mentioned the elderly because of my Uncle. 90 years old, highly educated and been reading the newspaper front to back for over 60 years. Unfortunately, like some elderly he has short term memory loss and some dementia. The fact he could not get his daily newspaper was extremely confusing and upsetting to him.

@sidsmom Uh, about 7 years ago for me.

And you know what? Going digital with the newspapers has been one of the biggest relief's to me! No more fussing when it doesn't come, or trying to cancel it when we're gone (they never do!), or stacking up and taking out newspapers!

It has really cut the clutter in our house. It's on time, not wet, not in the bushes, and not sitting out front stacking up when we are on vacation! LOL!!!

I started mine last night. I write personal notes in every one so it takes some time and I only send them to people who I will not see over the holidays. I love getting Christmas cards so I send them to people who are important to me.

Holiday cards ended for me many moons ago. Though,

my sister mails out one of those everything’s-wonderful w/ lots of exclamation points(!!!) Christmas letters every year, which gets the

immediate ‘pitch in the shredder’ seconds after opening because

I know the ‘real’ story behind the holiday-letter-stories!

When I worked, my manager would always want to mail out

holiday cards to all associates within our hierarchy...close to 500+.

That project was bestowed upon me...which I began seconds

after Thanksgiving! What a project...so ‘holiday cards’ is not

a feel-good thing for me..😆

As for the newspapers? In my apt complex, there’s always that one

apartment which has 2-3 newspapers piled up on their doorstep....

just saying’ ‘I’M NOT HOME..COME ROB ME!’ First thing

law enforcement will encourage...stop newspapers & mail

if not home.
