As I have said many times on the Wellness Forum, I would not suggest to anyone to eat the way I do. I’m working out 4-5 times a day (w/ free weights and cardio &amp;amp; eat enough protein so I do not lose weight....have stayed at ideal weight.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

Far from an expert on diabetes and insulin numbers, what you are doing is obviously working against those double whammy genetics.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT size="4" color="#000000"&gt;Myself on low carbs and high protein resulted in poor running/skating, and all resistance exercise limits. I tried it several different ways over the years, and high complex carbs and adequate protein levels is the best route for me.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT size="4" color="#000000"&gt;My concerns were/are cardiac and pulmonary efficiency, along with strong and very flexible muscles and connective tissues. Has worked well for me for staying physically fit(except for my several medical setbacks), along with being to choose what weight I chose/choose to be a any given time.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT size="4" color="#000000"&gt;My weight has never been a "constant", but mainly because it was my choice. Sounds like you’re really active and your diet helps you maintain your fitness. I started gymnastics at 4 or 5, learned to eat healthy and stayed w/ clean eating before anyone knew what it was. I was coached through high school and college. That level of competitive fitness required a lot of calories to maintain my weight...then around 95 lbs. of mostly muscle...at 4’11” in 6th grade, that was great. I grew a few inches in junior high to 5’1” and was able to stay w/ gymnastics on my college team....Dad &amp;amp; brother were over 6’ (Mom is 5’2”), but I began to worry when I saw those few inches in height. Anyway, diet (healthy, not to lose weight) has always been important to me even before the genetics entered the picture. Too much meat/chicken/fish protein is tough on the kidneys, so ate a lot of complex carbs, tofu, beans, etc. Now 70, have stayed around 100 lbs. (+ or - 5 lbs.). I’m still running, but working into just a cardio walk, better on my joints, lift weights to retain muscle and lots of yoga to keep flexible. It’s been my way of life, like you, and second nature. I do add some good carbs, sweet potatoes and veggies w/ carbs. &amp;nbsp;Bread/pasta are all whole wheat to keep numbers in check.
