Question about closing ceremonies

The athletes were walking around the arena, yet people were ice skating on the same surface. Yet I didn't see anyone fall. Did I miss something. Was the whole floor ice or how did they do that?

I happened to see just that part - they were on inline skates not ice skates (at least that's what it looked like).
