I personally choose not to get a flu shot. That's just me. I do wash my hands often, and avoid crowds. I was sick with the flu in Nov. so hopefully I won't get it again this season. I realize it's bad, and my thoughts and prayers are with the families that have lost their loved ones.

DH and I had our flu shots at the end of October and have for many years. it doesn't keep you from getting the flu but sure as heck lessens the severity and shortens the length of the illness.

@Shopchickie3 As long as we have "our" flu shot we are protected as well as we can be.

It is very kind of you to care that people do, but some people choose not to for different reasons.

my husband & I got our vaccines in October & BOTH got the flu for over 2 weeks..it was not fun! Hoping for more effective formulas next year!

My elderly mother got a flu shot, and is currently hospitalized with the flu. The doctor told me that this year's flu shot was not very effective.

I hope you and your husband are feeling better!

("Get a flu shot" may be good advice for some people, but not all. It's not just a personal decision, but a medical one as well. People with certain allergies as well as some people who have had Guillain-Barré Syndrome should not get flu shots. As the OP said, everyone should consult with a medical care professional about this. And then, IMO, make their own decision.)

I'm glad you got over it. I also got a flu shot and had a mild case of the flu. Some victims weren't as lucky. Just heard of a local 40 year old mom who was otherwise healthy, who passed away.

Some poor souls got the flu shot this year and still passed away. This is a bad year. It’s better to suggest that everyone who can stay home and not go out unless they have to -to do that. And those that are sick to stay home also.

i have never had the flu, or the flu shot. I wash my hands a lot and try to stay home when I don’t really need to go anywhere. Besides keeping me safer, I am saving money.

Same thing here, I even had the super flu vaccine, or what ever they call it and just got over 2 plus weeks of it. The doctor at the hospital told me the shots this year ended up not covering the strain of flu that's going around and they are swamped with flu cases.

My Mom had the same experience, except she hasn't yet recovered. She's generally very healthy, but her flu is severe and she's still hospitalized. She rarely gets sick, and she's never had the flu before.

If you do research on the Flu vaccines you will see that they are never very effective. I feel it is nothing but a Big Pharma money maker. I choose not to have Aluminum and Mercury and other dangerous chemicals. I haven't had a flu shot in 20 years. I haven't had the flu either.

This is a decision that each individual has to make for themselves. Dr.'s are into pushing all these things anymore. One thing I will not do, is I never put my hands near my face when I am out. I use the wipes going into the store as well as coming out. If you notice they never have the right strain. Same thing every year.

I am totally against all immunizations especially the Pneumonia shot. DO NOT GET IT IF YOU ARE SICK. The Dr's pushed my hubby into getting one and he never recovered from it. He got the Pneumonia shot failthfully and still got it. Some look to Dr.'s as Gods. I am not one of them.

@pugvette74 Yes, I got that, I guess I didn’t know they were secret, I just wanted to understand.
