Hello everyone - seems our other thread is buried or missing. I just saw Shosh's post on Gloriajean's thread so here is a new thread for those still around.

I know many of us have not been around much but it is nice once in a while to see everyone checking in.

My heart is sad about Merle; we get to know people here and when they leave us it hurts..

I am sending all of you blessings and keeping all of you in thought.

hi cakers, i looked high and low for this thread. yes i was heartbroken about our merle. i'm on the run now (the gym) but i will return. thank you for starting this thread back up.

Cakers...thank you for starting this forum. It is like an old friend to me. How sad that we have lost our dear Merle Byrd. I think her funeral is this weekend. I can find out for sure if anyone wants to know. I know she was loved and cared for by her family and she will be missed by many. This month has been so sad for me with the anniversary of my dh's death four years ago.

Ladyroxanne..I know loosing Merle was difficult for you personally. She was a good friend for you. I am wondering if you have any news of our precious skypie and her family. I miss her and hope she is well.

Shosh...thank you for sharing the sad news of Merle on Gloria's wonderful pages. I know there are so many who would want to know of this. She touched so many here.

Hello to all the dear friends I have known here. I pray you are all healthy and happy and blessed.

I look forward to hearing from all the skypie peeps and know that you are ok.

seems like if i use 'quick reply feature' it is a bit quicker for me, tho can't customize the type. maybe if i do it this way i can post more often.

so good to see you all here, thanks cakers for starting up- it sure seems the old thread is gone, considering how many posts i lost, most threads i was ever on are gone.

i was mad cause some had just posted things about merle there and it coincided with being erased.

go2girl, i recall those difficult months leading up to your dh passing, i don't know what anyone can say to ease that kind of situation.

how is your grandbaby doing? my new little dgs is quite a 'chunky monkey' already, hoping to see him soon, they change so fast.

is anyone able to get in touch with skypie? hoping she will be able to come back and find us someday.

Shosh...my precious grandson is doing so well. He is happy and healthy and a runs a mile a minute everywhere he goes. He seems to have normal or near normal eye sight so for that we feel so blessed. He was here for the weekend and I had a blast. we swam in the pool and danced and hopped and ate lots of fun foods and even tasted a few crayons...seems he likes the red crayon best! He has lots of words and knows sign language so he is able to let us know what he wants. He is just a bundle of joy in motion. They teach the children sign language at his day care...isn't that such a good idea?

Thank you for remembering the long difficult road my dear husband traveled before he passed away. He was not feeling well one evening - so we went to the emergency room- and from that day on he never came home again. His body just collapsed and he suffered for nearly three years with many surgeries and amputations and pain before he passed away. He was such a dear man and I miss him.

again cakers a big thank you for starting this thread and bringing us all back together again. before the old one disappeared, i went and read through starting from day one all the posts. it was a great thread in it's day and i especially wanted to read what merle wrote. it was sort of my working through losing her. what a great group of ladies we have here!

go2girl, unfortunately i have no info on skypie but i do hope all is well. i think she may be without a computer. she was always having trouble with hers. i'm happy to read how well your grandson is doing. it puts a smile on my face. shosh, i'm happy you found this thread and with two grandsons you must be thrilled. i hope your dh is doing well.

we are experiencing three digit heat right now, even though we have low humidity and it looks like it's going to hang around awhile. dh is working at the us senior open here and is out there in the heat.

i just noticed i'm not typing my paragraphs. sorry about that. i'm off to the gym again this morning. i have a personal trainer twice a week and i really don't want to go today and then it's lunch and mahjongg.

ladyr: It is bittersweet to read back on old posts - it seems like forever since Merle had been able to post.

I hope skypie can check in soon - I know she has issues with her computer at times.

Thinking of shorelady - I started a thread to her but she either didn't see it or she's been shying away since the changes were made here.

I missed go2grl - maybe I'll catch her on Gloriajeans' thread.

I'm not here everyday but will try to post more.

ladyrox, i also went back to read the old thread, as i thought it might be gone with the big change. i wonder how they decided what to keep, some of the older threads seem really random and out of date, and yet they remain.

thanks for asking about dh- we felt he was doing alot better, i don't know if the dr agrees, have to sort it all out. just stressful, you know...

are you in your avatar? maybe a dumb question, but some folks seem to be using other people's pics, so i wondered. you are a busy lady, so good to be keeping so active- me not so much, tho i did go to the dentist today, that stress burns calories i am sure.

how are you doing cakers?

i thought i saw shorelady on the board after the change, maybe on puddle's thread ? it would be so much better if we could just click on 'activity' like we used to and we could see right away someone's last posts, maybe they will fix that.

i'm happy to hear that dh is doing better and going to the dentist is alway a lot of fun. lol. do you have plans for the 4th? we have a have full of guests and they are keeping us quite busy.

that is my picture and once i put it in there i couldn't get it out! so, it is what it is. it sure is small enough though.

i try to keep busy and am membership chair of the women's club too, if i already haven't mentioned it. i like talking to and getting to know all the members. we have over 300.

vinnie is doing well and still a lot of fun. i'll tell you about him later.

i don't know if you already do this, but a fellow poster gave me this tip and i pass it along to you, maybe it will help you find some of your recent posts.

this link goes right to your activity- if you bookmark it, you can use it to get back into the board in a place where it is useful to you.

it may be missing posts, but it is the only way i have to return 'easily' to where i have posted recently.

if they 'fix' this activity thing better, it may not work anymore! but then maybe it will really be fixed- anyhow, try this for now if it seems better than what you are doing.

after you post on another thread, that one should also show up in your activity link, and you can return there too , etc.

hope you had a great weekend, we don't do anything special- i have been writing up medical stuff, online ordering, and watching some 'snl' marathon/hallmark christmas shows in the background. my neighbors celebrate enough for all of us, at least it has been raining alot recently, so don't worry this year about 'fireworks fires' on our dry terrain. that's exciting enough for me !

hi everyone, well we managed to survive the weekend with a full house of company. it was tiring and it seemed that all i did was prepare food, but we had a lot of fun. where we live they put on a fireworks show and this year was by far the best year which was nice for everyone. they even did one that had a smiley face. this in spite of the drought we are going through which is extra special. we have several lakes and they built a floating dock and went out into the middle of one and set them off. we were lucky that there wern't any fires around here.

today is extra busy for me and i'm up at 4:30 am. i have the gym, then 4 hours of mahjongg and then canasta tonight. this only happens once a month, but it's the waking up so early that's the killer.

i've managed to get asthma in the last couple years and i use inhalers. for some reason they make me very hoarse some days and vinnie being the mimic that he is has picked up on this. he sounds very funny and he amuses everyone.

i look forward to your posts and hope to hear from go2girl also. we've lost a couple along the way, but it could be the new format. maybe in time.

Hi shosh - thanks for the tip!

Our 4th was quiet - the kids (still kids to me) and grandkids were away for a few weeks - tonight is our last night with our grand dog. He's been so spoiled with us!

They are in state now but it takes hours to drive through here so we don't expect them home until around 10 tonight.

I hope some of the other ladies are at least reading and know we are all thinking of them.

I was thinking of Merle the other day - how she used to call her DH "Hubcap" - always thought that was too funny.
