When your purchase is shipped isn't your account charged on that date? I've never known any of the shopping channels to ship anything without making the initial payment, not the promise of paying after the fact. Maybe it's a new system I don't know about or this is the way they work it with their own credit cards.

.

Did you request a paperless billing, i.e. an e-mail notification of when payment was due?

I went ahead and applied for this to get 20% off a large purchase. The purchase was shipped like 5/26/2017. I got it, and sometime after, I know I went to the accounts page to look up when a payment was due. I pay most everything online, and knew I would have to set it up with them.

My memory tells me that I made the first payment sometime in June. That would have required me to set up with the banking account number, routing number, etc. My memory says I did this.

I get a call from them saying I have never made a payment. I go to my bank account, and there is no recorded payments to them. This doesn't seem like something I would get wrong. I distinctly feel I made that set up with my account and first payment with them.

There is also a $25.00 late fee assesed to my account. So no money was ever taken from my bank account. For whatever reason, they have gotten no money from me.

Should I listen to my brain telling me I did this, or assume I am wrong and drop it? I just feel funny about this. I would like that $25 late fee to go because I really thought I had set it up and made a payment.

Hyacinth

If your bank has no record of a payment, I think you have to assume none was made. You have no paper trail to show you made a payment so you can't prove anything.

I opened an account with them and after two months, it was such a mess I put the card in my CC cemetery and never used it again. I couldn't even access my own account.

If there were conflicting reason, say your bank account says it was withdrawn but Evine says no payment was made, then yes I would question it. But if Evine says no payment and nothing came out of your bank account, then it sounds as if you set up the account but never made the payment or you had intentions of doing so but forgot.

Couldn't you log into your account and see if your bank info is in there? It sounds like you may have setup the account. If not, why didn't they mail you the bill? If you don't have anything setup online, I'd call and ask them to wave the $25 fee. That happened when my q card was first setup. They didn't send me a bill in the mail and I got a late fee. When I called, their records showed the bill was returned because the address was wrong. They didn't know what it said, but told me what was in the system and it was correct. Fee waived.

I think I opted for paperless statements. So I didn't expect to get a bill. Which is why I went online to check for payments.

I am going to pay it because they told me if I missed 2 payments they would report you to the credit agency. So I will pay and then try to argue the late payment thing.

This is the first time I have ever had a problem with doing online payments. I do a lot and have for quite awhile. My feeling is that I truly attempted to make a payment last month.

Like to solve this mystery, but it isn't worth messing with a good credit report. I guess there's something I don't quite trust!

Hyacinth

EVen though I use my bank's on line bill pay, service I still keep and balance a paper check register and everything I pay whether through bill pay, debit card, automatic debit to my checking account or the occasional paper check gets entered in the register and checked off when the transaction shows as completed. I guess I do not understand how anyone cannot keep a written record of the debits and credits made to their account that they can then refer back to. HOw are you supposed to know how much money you actually have by just looking at your transactions on line? I cannot recall from memory what has been cleared or what is still floating around in electronic la-la land.

If you have no paper trail that you actually made the payment then you have nothing to refer to. MAybe you meant to do it and then got distracted and forgot. I really don't think you can dispute the late charge. I would pay it and chalk it up to a learning experience.

Let me ask a question here. WHo would have been responsible for initiating the payment process, your financial institution or Evine? WOuld you have logged onto your bank's bill payment function and initiated the payment to Evine or would you have gone to the Evine credit card website and instructed them to debit your financial institution for the payment? If you would have logged onto your bank's bill payment function and initiated the payment that way and there is no record of a payment being processed then even if you did actually initiate a payment the fault lies with your financial institution and not with EVINE who was just supposed to receive the funds from your bank. If that is the case then Evine has every right to charge you a late fee and your problem is with your bank. IF, however, you went to the EVINE credit card web site and instructed them to initiate a debit to your bank account and it did not occur then that is something different. ALthough you would think you would have received a E Mail from Evine if you initiated the payment through their web site.

We all make mistakes one time or another, thinking we did something when we didn't. Chalk it up to experience and pay the $25..have them make a account notation but I would not worry about ONE payment. You said you pay them in full anyway.

It happens. Life happens. We think in our mind we did something and we didn't. I doubt your bank and both Evine messed up at the same time.

Don't fret and stress over it. Pay it - move on. I set alarms on my cell phone for things that are not automatic. I do it three times so it doesn't get missed.

We are human!

You need to write a letter to the Evine credit card company and ask to waive the payment. Explain in detail what happened. A phone call won't do it. It needs to be in writing. I've been late once paying HSN because I was out of the country and I forgot to pay. They waived the $25 late fee for me.

No amount of money would get me to open up a shopping channel credit card. Why would someone with all the problems people hav? I use a card that gives me 5% back on every purchase... money back in my wallet all the time when I use it. never an issue with using the card.

Do you balance your checking account monthly? If so, wouldn't you have noticed that the payment didn't clear your account?

Even when paying bills through my bank online, I still keep a paper check register and record all payments, debit card transactions, deposits, ATM withdrawals, etc. and check them off when they clear. When my bank submits a bill payment on my behalf I get an email. If OP submitted an online payment, she should have noticed it deduct from her account.
