Prayer request please UPDATE

We are dealing with extremely hard rains, on top of a couple of weeks of excess rain. We are experiencing flooding like we have never seen on our property this morning and more rain is coming before the end of the day. We sit rather low, and so much rain is running downhill onto our property, that our pond is flooding into the front yard and there are rivers running around the back of the house.

We have experienced this one other time, but the rain stopped....it appears it will not this time....to give us time to drain. We've not seen this level of flooding in 23 years.

So far the house is safe, but I don't see how we won't take on water if we get another storm like the one this morning. There simply won't be enough time for everything to run off. Main problem is we live down hill from two big farm ponds, and they are spilling over because of the wetter than usual season we have had.

Asking for prayers that our homes are spared damage. Already have three drives washed out, and that we can repair, but both our home and mom's next door, are in a precarious situation until this all passes, which may not be until tomorrow morning sometime.

@Mominohio. Will gladly do. Please be safe. For future floods maybe a diversion ditch below the ponds could be built so that any overflow would be sent downhill away from your homes to an area not inhabited. The farmers around me have then to divert the water away from the fields to save their crops.

Our area is under flash flood warnings because of the constant rain . I am on a hill. I am lucky as long as my sump pump works.

@Mominohio Praying that the Lord puts a hedge of protection around your and your mother's homes. It is times like these that we really do see who is in control.

Quick update.

Rain has stopped for a few hours, it appears it will be that long anyway, and with water receding, there is a lot of deep damage in the washed out drives. Back breaking work, but I'll take it over the house being hit.

We have a small pump, and are working on lowering the pond as much as we can before it starts up again, as well as the pond has a natural drain that is running full force.

Have made a makeshift barricade to direct water coming down hill away from the pond, and out to the road, to hopefully reduce the amount of water going in on the next storm later today. Small stop gap measures, but every gallon diverted might make the difference as to how much spill over we have.

Still have to worry about what comes down hill in the back of the property from two farms up. Hoping their ponds are draining fast, and that any further rains will be light and sporadic.

I think you got the brunt of the rain that went through Indiana yesterday - we didn't get much south of Indy. Praying that your property is safe. It's an awful worry when the rain comes down that hard. We had a 100 year rain experience here several years ago. It was quite scary - I had heard of flash floods, but never experienced it till then. Please stay safe! Get out if you need to. Your life is much more important.

Yes I will.I wish you well. There are so many weather related issues to pray for. Floods in many places, fires, land slides. I feel so bad for anyone in these situations.I am also in Ohio. I have never seen flood warnings before it rained and for such a long period of time.I hope you are protectected.
