Neighbor problems

I hope this doesn't get poofed, but I could use any advice. I saw one of the men peeing on my fence last night. They are problem neighbors, junk outside, they don't trim weed trees, and have filed code enforcement complaints before for them parking on their front lawn. Another neighbor filed a complaint non their junk, too. So, not on good terms. They don't speak much English so we can't go talk to them, but would not on this situation either! If I see it again, I could try to capture a picture, but don't want to. I doubt it is the first time, but I'm outside more now that it's warmer. I know it is illegal, public indecent exposure & considered a sex crime. It's just gross. Anonymous postcard to their address? What would you do?

I would call the police & let them deal with it. I don't have very nice neighbors either but I have never seen them peeing outside. At least 1 of neighbors finally got of his rear & has started cleaning his yard but doubt he will prune his trees. I don't want to get started. LOL!!! Good Luck.

While not quite the same thing, I am in the process of getting a trail cam. I have a neighbor who allows this dog to relieve himself on my car. Nothing can be done unless you have proof. With photos there is no denying the act.

I will probably file a new code enforcement complaint on the junk and weed trees, but add this part in. I'd feel silly calling in I saw my neighbor relieving himself, even though that isn't bad advice. 😜

@StraytoStay just please be very careful....I thought when I moved out into the woods with 11 acres that I wouldnt have to deal with "neighbors" anymore.....but when I dared call and complain about the loose dog a great dane (who was aggresive, in my yard digging and knocking me down), my nearest neighbor I didnt know was a drunk came over threatening me, tried to bash in my door....was totally nuts. I am still in alot of shock but he will never get a second chance to do that again without his head connecting with a baseball bat. Im serious about being careful as I never predicted this kind of behavior. I havent seen him since but am now hypervigilant.

Thanks @Stormygirl so sorry to hear that you went through. I've seen the ID channels "Fear Thy Neighbor" & that is scary how some people can get! I saw one where they would drag a shovel on pavement to wake them up and plant their feces next to their property so they would have to smell it! Ugh

@StraytoStay - I would get one of those cams and put it up in a tree or somewhere close to where he was relieving himself - then take it to the police

@StraytoStay aww thanks it was a huge shock. I know we can get some great advice on these forums but I just wanted to show you the unexpected can happen.......sometimes the unexpected can be dangerous to ones own safety. Ughhh I was never so scared in my life and although the police were then called and I was encouraged to press charges on him (he touched me while threatening me) I havent thus far because what do I think will happen then if the man loses his job, income..........and the police are approx 40 minutes in responding here. Yes I also watch 'Fear Thy Neighbor" and is a good word of caution to proceed............but do so with eyes open because mine were not. People can be downright crazy...especially when intoxicated with alcohol. Big hugs to you and I hope you get this sorted out. Taking pics is good idea but try not to let them see you do it.

This is why I am staying in my house that is both too big and too expensive (NJ property taxes). My neighbors are great! Quiet, respectful and clean. The neighborhood is very safe and my close neighbor with whom I am friends is a cop in a neighboring town.

@CrazyDaisy Our neighbor next door called the police & told them our dog was using their yard. The police came out to tell DH the neighbor complained about our dog using their yard & DH said well her cat keeps peeing in our flower garden so nothing will grow so I call it even steven & the cop started laughing. She kept her cat out of our yard & we kept our dog out of her yard after that.

I would call the Police and ask them what can be done, if anything. They sound like disgusting people.

Well this really isn't a ****** for tat situation. It is against the lease and grounds for eviction. I would never let my dog go on a person car or property it is just rude

@StraytoStay....I really feel bad for you and don't really know what to tell you other than to call the police and ask to speak to a Community Service officer or Code Enforcement again.

Long story, but I lived next door to similar neighbors, peeing, junk, parking cars on the lawn, barking dogs, the whole nine yards. Plus they were drug dealers. I can't tell you how many times I called the police. Not much was done about it until I sent an anonymous letter to the police dept. Eventually most of the activity was curtailed, but it was a battle, let me tell you. No one should have to deal with neighbors like that. Good luck. I hope you find a solution.

I would report it to the police and then it will be on record along with all the other complaints against them and maybe they will finally do somethig about them. Some people just don't know how to live in a neighborhood and respect other people. It is sad but true.

I can only hope that with photos and video local law enforcement really takes these neighbor battles seriously. Someone could get hurt if they nonchalant these situations. The stories posted here remind me as to why every time contemplate leaving the hubba bub of a noisy highrise in noisy Chicago downtown for the calm and quite of a suburban or rural area in a single family home, I change my mind and stay.

Sadly for people stuck in the investment of a home you can't hand pick the neighbors. I might have to go ghetto (as in loud and feisty) if rude neighbors allowed their cats to invade my garden (I have a cat phobia and a distain for rude behavior).

@StraytoStay Might be best for you to ignore them unless you have a large group of neighbors to join you with a complaint.I don't think it would be safe for you to tackle that on your own.

We live in a small plan with 140 homes and over 100 dogs!! The yards are very small and they all walk the dogs instead of taking them in their own yards.My DH has taken many photos of neighbors dogs peeing on our car or golfcart, or in the middle of the yard or on our newly painted house. He sends them to the HOA - nothing is done. We have decided to move.

Many years ago when I lived in an apartment my neighbor was outside with his little son and they were peeing on a tree in the yard.I asked him what he was doing and he said he was teaching his son to pee outside. Go figure.

@151949 Yes when you are outnumbered it's best to move.Too many pet owners in that subdivision for you to get any support.

Many of the original owners have moved - many reasons - and it seems everyone who moves in has a dog. Not all the dog owners are nuisance though - but there are more than enough.
