Hating UPS.....

Don't mind me, I'm just venting. It's been an expensive few months, so I cashed out some investments and in hindsight, I made a mistake. I could have had the check go out by Usps (12 days to deliver) or I could pay $25 and have it go out by UPS (48 hr delivery). I chose UPS and here I sit waiting.... And waiting..... Tracking says it will be delivered to day, I'm betting it won't and I know why. I have a Qvc package coming tomorrow and I think they'll deliver them both tomorrow. They'll lie and say no one was home today to sign. I should have just gone with Usps but I didn't want the check bouncing around just as holiday shopping begins. However, I have to go into the office towmorrow and Friday and no one will be home for UPS. I went through this once before years ago. If the check goes back, they put a stop pay on it and I have fill out a form and submit that and yada yada yada, it will take a month for a replacement check. My UPS guy routinely gets here between 2:00 and 3:00. Firgures that when I really needed them to be here by a specific time....they aren't. Thank you, I'm done venting.

That's really a shame. Anytime that I receive money from my investments, I get the check overnighted or direct deposited into my bank account.

Any time I dig into investment $$ (there's a mandatory distribution once a year at my age) I have them do an auto deposit into my checking account. Works great. Could a neighbor sign for the check for you if you leave a note on the door and ask that they deliver it across the street or next door for you? I doubt UPS would do what you suggest - son began his "career" years ago delivering for UPS. They had to deliver what was on their truck because the trucks are washed out at night and nothing can be left inside. Unless things have changed.

Venting is good...what isn't is waiting for a expedited delivery you paid for. Sorry for the frustration and waiting, and I do hope you receive it today and not tomorrow with other package. Think positive!➕

I'm surprised your investment broker didn't tell you that he can easily wire the money into your checking or savings account.

Also, if you use their website they all have the capability these days to let the customer transfer funds themselves provided you give enter your routing number and acct number first into their system. The transfers take 24 hrs and a little longer if it hits the weekend. Very easy to do either way. But by UPS or USPS I would never choose them.

And....I was right. I just checked tracking again and the driver lied and said no one was home for delivery so he left (or will leave) it at the Ups Access Point.

If he's still in your area find the truck! Or get on the phone and they'll have the UPS supervisor call you back.

Direct deposit would have been ideal but they don't do that anymore. They only issue paper checks now. And the UPS driver did lie. He said no one was home so he left it at the Access Point. I should have just gone with Usps.

When my husband died my daughter handled all of our business for me (she's a signer), but I'm the only one who can tell the investment company what to do. Anyway, every month the banker there puts in a designated amount of money into my account. It's always been wired in. Sometimes if there is something I want to buy in addition to the regular money or if I just want more, I call his secretary and he wires in the cash. If I call in the morning it's put in there at midnight. It's easier than messing with checks and things.

You might think of doing that next time. That way you don't have to worry about any of that. Even social security automatically deposits money into everyone's account every month.

I hope by now you have received the check you wanted. In the summer I was visiting my daughter when a neighbor called and said she'd seen two women driving up to everyone's mailboxes and taking out their mail. The cops caught them.

I suggest from now on you just have the money wired. It's very secure and you get total information on all of it.

I don't know who you do business with but my investment broker always gives his clients the option of wire transfers or doing the transfer themselves via his corporate website. What a shame you are doing business with a backward company.

By the way, direct deposit only refers to paychecks not investments. It is always referred to as wire transfers.

First what bothers me about UPS - they don't always ring the door bell.

They will just set the package near the front door.

Lately, when UPS is within 10 miles - it's transferred to USPS.

Not sure why - I'm not in a remote area - Phoenix.

And UPS every day, drives by.

Guess I don't see the big picture.

I have a money market account. It's like a checking account. If I sell an investment, the money goes into this account and I just write checks on it. Very handy. It takes about 3 days from the time I call my broker until the money is in my account. I also have some "special" checks I can write to make myself a loan until the money appears in my account. This gives me instant access to all my funds.

Calling UPS and asking to speak to a supervisor is pointless or at least it was in my circumstances. I used to order my heart medication through home delivery, one time the UPS person claims I was not home to receive the medication and left a note that they would deliver the next day (BTW I was home the 1st attempt, but they never rang the doorbell or knocked), so I made sure I had the front door open, and the front window open the next day, no medication was delivered and this was a Friday afternoon. So I called UPS and asked to speak to a supervisor explaining that this item was heart medication, to be taken 3 times a day and I was going to go without it now over the weekend, she called back and claimed that the driver indicated that I was not home, so I explained to her that yes I was home, and had left the front door open, the front window and at the time I had a dog, so her driver was being less than honest with her, and when it comes to peoples medication them not delivering could be a danger to the patient, she brushed me off and assured me that they would be delivered on Monday. I then phoned the drug company and filed a complaint against UPS and suggested that they find a different carrier. Monday I planted myself in front of the door except for the 1 time I litterally ran to the rest room for just a minute, AGAIN the driver never knocked or rang the bell and when I went back to the front door he was writing yet another notice that they had attempted delivery and no one was home, and then instead of handing me my medication he tossed at me and left. So once again I called the UPS supervisor and stated my case, I never heard from UPS regarding this, and the same driver continued to go about his job as usual, so complaing to UPS falls on deaf ears!

They do this to me with almost every package, and if you watch the time frame of the time it is shipped to the time I receive it, it is averaging 13 days, as once it is trasferred from UPS to the post office it takes another 2 business days for me to receive, and like you, UPS drives by every single day!

I woudn't hate UPS. I would have a problem with your firm that sent you the check. As previously stated, if they don't do wire transfers--hard to believe in this day and age--they should have Fedexed it overnight to you. Get another investment firm.

I can hear the UPS truck rumbling down our street before it reaches our house and one time was waiting for him outside with my video camera rolling and he had a fit about that. After he left and I had proof of his antics I sent the video to his supervisor. No one can deny the unprofessionalism of this guy now and I'm tempted to put it on the internet too but so far the video has seemed to snap him back into reality for the time being. They are supposed to be advocates for the customer but honestly no matter how snide they get, they are protected by their union. Most would never survive without one. @CareBears

I get money deposited into my checking account twice a month from different advisers. I can't understand why yours won't provide this basic service.

Oh, I am so with you on this! About a year ago, I was waiting for some medical equipment. I stayed home all day on the day it was supposed to be delivered. As it started to get late, I checked tracking online and it showed that it had been delivered that afternoon. I went outside, checked my porch and everywhere else, and there was no package. I asked a few of my neighbors and no one had seen it or the truck. I wasn't surprised because I always hear if someone is on my porch and I had heard nothing the entire day.

So I called UPS and was told that it had been delivered. I told the woman that it had not been delivered to me and that it was medical equipment that I needed right away. She said they would have the driver follow his route again the next day to see if he could "remember" where he had left it. She also said they would do an investigation. (Guess what happened with that? He said he delivered it to my door, and that was the end of the investigation!)

Meanwhile, days later, I found out that it had been left on the porch of a neighbor who doesn't even live near me. They were away on vacation and found it when they got home. It was clearly addressed to me, but left on their porch. When I called UPS to let them know, they still insisted that it had been delivered to me. "You probably just didn't see it". Really? I have had so many problems with UPS. Give me USPS any day!
