Hugs to all. Is strange how suddenly life can change and puts one's own life into perspective. I really missed everyone so much and was frustrating that I could not convey my situation or what was happening these past 3 weeks. Really makes me appreciative of these forumns and the unity and freindships we forge.
3 weeks ago I woke up feeling as if I had the worst flu in my life and thought it was the flu....was actually flopping around on the floor (seizures, fever, shakes) I went to the hospital locally and when tested negative for flu the horror was I realized my long term spinal morphine pump had stopped suddenly and that I was in utter complete withdrawal. Had to travel almost 3 hours to pain doc who is only one who deals in these pumps and I was right. The pump was running but the spinal catheter had actually corroded onto my spinal cord. Miserable 8 days waiting to be cleared for surgery. Surgery was hard and I developed a hole in my spine and the leak is still happening (awful a spinal head ache) and developed pneumonia on top of it all. I have no recoolection of past 3 weeks and today was first day I saw the sunshine.
Am in alot of pain 2 incisions 1 along spine and 1 in my belly. Both infected from all the dehydration, lost 25 pounds in last 2 weeks, kidney failure ughh. The pump is still not working the way it should so I hope it will be resolved and eventually have this utterly dangerous piece of equipment out. It has killed at least 14 people, 2 exactly from what happened to me.
Am petrified of the pump that once helped the pain of a rare and devastating illness....now has presented the dangers of malfunction. Changes one both mentally and physically so have a long road to go but with some luck, prayers and courage maybe I will pull through. So that is it in a nutshell.
Thank you ALL for your well wishes, prayers, light and love. I am crying from humbleness that you all think of me. See when we need help and in our darkest times we ARE there for each other and the QVC Family is indeed like a family. LOL Sometimes family fight but when the chips are down...oh yea LOL Thanks.Love and Light.....Stormy
PS..yea the prognosis for me is poor but I once survived hospice and so far this. Am no longer afraid of dying as sometimes the pain of living like this is much worse. I still am fighting and that life mode kicks in even when we give up. Amazing really. Soon will find out exact prognosis from the cath not being able to be removed and corroding onto the cord. Will update you all.....thanks
