Posting Question

Hi Melvin: There appears to be some confusion now about what is religious and what is not since "religion" is not mentioned in the Standards.

If a poster asks for prayers would that be removed now?

If a poster says that they will pray for another poster is that also forbidden now?

I understand about copyrights but it would be helpful to know exactly what we can and cannot say. I can respect the decision but I am honestly a bit leery about what to say

Not sure if this pertains, but there are editions of the Bible which are free of copyright restriction.

The reason cited for deleting two posts was that the posts "could be deemed as religious." So I don't think it's a copyright problem. Hopefully, Melvin will reply. I, too, read the standards and couldn't find any mention of religion.

@Ruby Laine, I looked back after seeing today's posts and found at least one of her threads was deleted for the reason of "This post has been removed by QVC because it is copyright infringement."

That could be, @AuberriJean. On the thread started today, I must have missed it. I know there was an "inappropriate," "inappropriate information," and "religious."

Maybe the Standards will need reviewed and revised so they are more clear.

They are so inconsistent on what is allowed. What one person can say, another can't. One callout thread to see how a poster is, is allowed yet another call out thread for another poster is deleted. It depends on who you are here.

Wow, I've not noticed that before. I've seen things deleted, but not really understood most of the 'reasoning'.

IT SHOULD NEVER DEPEND WHO YOU ARE, that is outrageous.

I will have to pay more attention to the deletions, and fire back some questions regarding those deletions.

If it's not in the 'rule book stated by QVC herein', it better appear in the rule book soon.

Woah! Isn't The Bible public domain now? I mean, who would get any royalties, any way? That's the whole point of The Bible! It was meant to be used often and in any way that was not disrespectful! I'm stunned! It's not as if people must read certain threads. If someone is offended by a religious comment, they don't have to read that particular post, or even the thread! How can someone offering another blessings be upsetting to a third party who is not even mentioned? I sure hope this is not what the world is coming to! Pretty soon, we won't even be allowed to pray in private!

"Discussions of a controversial or confrontational nature will be removed at our discretion. The following are examples of topics that generally create a negative dialogue between Community members which will result in removal of the discussion and possible banning: current events, politics, religious beliefs, and unkind comments about hosts, vendors, models, or employees."

Maybe I don't understand it, but I would think that "religious beliefs" would be someone telling a general audience that they are wrong to do "xyz" or anyone who does/thinks/eats/ such and such is not a good or just person. Wouldn't that be the objection to "religious beliefs"? I don't think telling someone , "I'll keep you in my prayers" or , "As The Bible says ..." can be seen as offensive, but maybe I'm wrong.

That is a big difference. The negative dialogue always came from those who were too intolerant to just pass by - and we saw that time to time not just on GJ's threads but over on Chat, too.

If one starts a thread declaring that his/her religion is the only true religion, that is a violation.

If one starts a thread posting upliifting messages that is NOT against standards.

And I guess I'm not going to get an answer from the Mod?

btw: The Mods do not make the rules-they are here to enforce them. The decision to disallow GJ's thread had to have been determined by Q Corporate.

Since we do see some inconsistencies across the Forums perhaps the Standards should be more specific.

That is my question here - what specifically can I say or not say??

I personally have people praying for me and my friends all the time on facebook. I have gotten through a lot of difficult times through my friends and family. If Q don't allow it , then that is sad. Just get a faceboook page and you will be amazed at all the prayers you can get for you or your loved ones.

IMO you have to afraid to post anything about religion on here , so I don't.

I have never understood why people get so upset over someone else's religious beliefs. If you don't believe like they do - fine - so what is the big deal - that you have to insist that they are not allowed to say what they believe?

If I insist that green is the best color and you think it's purple - so what? I have to be silenced?
