Kitten and Berkshire blanket!

I adopted two feral kittens two months ago and the reserved one has fallen in love with my older Berkshire blanket! He doesn't come to me otherwise but with the blanket on the bed he hops up and lays next to me, starts purring as soon as his paws touch the blanket, and stretches out and makes muffins. I have a beautiful quilt on my bed but end up leaving this blanket on top just for him! I've read about other pets liking their blankets so I thought I'd share.

I have the paw print Berkshire throws and my avatar, Kingston, just loves them!

He loves to crawl in my bed (from his!) when I get up in the morning, so I make my bed, throw one on top of my blankets and he snuggles up!

So cute to see our pets snuggled up!

Awe KatMary, that makes my heart so happy!! He is just so happy and warm in that blanket. Makes me want to order a blanket to see if either of my two adoptees will come for it. You gave me all kinds of feels!!!

What a great post. My 15 year old miniature Schnauzer has some health issues, so he has a special place on the couch next to me. A Berkshire blanket and two fluffy down pillows are his little piece of heaven. Anything to make him comfortable.

I have a 14 month old kitty we found in our backyard at 4 weeks. She loves to cuddle up next to me, purr, make biscuits and suck the blanket until it's soggy. The blanket sucking probably comes from being taken from her mama at a very young age. So adorable.

@Meowingkitty some weaned cats continue to 'knead dough', some never do.

Kittens knead the queen's mammaries as they suckle, and the hormones send the message 'make more milk!'

My 16 y/o kneads for a few minutes when she's hungry, then gets up and goes to eat.

My 20 y/o never kneaded.

Please Google "wool sucking" .

It's a habit you should discourage as it can become physically dangerous to your cat.

I bought a Berkshire throw because I thought I would like it but also so that I could put it on my couch for Henry, my cat. He sheds and I have to vacuum my couch frequently. When I was taking the throw out of the package he immediately started inspecting it. When I put it on my couch spread out over the seat, he wouldn't get on the couch. Strange. I'll have to work on that as it gets colder.

Henry is 2 1/2 years old, and I've never seen him knead. He's the only cat I've ever had that hasn't done that. He recently had his annual exam, and I told my Vet. She said it was very unusual for a cat not to knead. He doesn't purr either. I've only heard him purr once, and that was for about five seconds. She said she had a cat that was mostly silent, but it was unusual for them not to knead. He's basically a very sweet and affectionate cat.

That’s funny cause I buy BB just for my pets they all love them. But, you’re right I haven’t seen a cat that doesn’t knead - my dogs even knead. Go figure... aren’t they entertaining to watch no matter what they do it’s lovable (we humans could take some notes hahaha).

BTW one of my grand dogs I babysit loves the Campanella Puppy Fur cleaning cloths. He’s a big ‘ol rescue hound so I basted a few of them together and offer to send home with him but his mom sez no, keep them special for Mimi’s house.

Our first kitty was found at 5 weeks. She was my dad's pal and was especially happy when he would pull on his wool cardigan. She would join him on his recliner and knead and suck on his cardigan sleeve until it was soggy. She lived to 19 1/2 years and never lost the habit. LOL

Yes, I have a Berkshire blanket (probably the one everyone got....the light one) It's on the comforter, and she loves it! She always takes time to knead several hundred times before settling down on it. She was feral one when we got her as a kitten. She was born in our state park & her mom was really wild! No one could get to her. But they kept an eye on her and fed her. As soon as they were old enough, they snatched them. And captured the mom. So we got one. I have a pic of her. Not on the blanket though.

One of my Silky Terriers just loves my pink fuzzy Barbie blanket.The minute he saw it ....dibbs! Nobody else allowed. My Silkys also love when I throw the clothes hot from the dryer on the bed. They snuggle on in and under and make a Silky nest. Little dog heads burried in clean warm duds. So darn cute! Makes laundry day fun.....almost.
