I have been feeding a homeless cat for about five years...now it seems that another has also joined in.I will now need to double the food.My original who I call KitKat won’t be happy about this I am sure.

@KingstonsMom it’s funny that before KitKat I wasn’t a cat person...now I just love that cat and I am sure this new one will get a part of my heart too.When I have to be away I arrange for backups to care for my kitty...once I asked my dentist to do it as the regular person was unable.LOL.I wasn’t able to get near the cat for the first two years but after that I was able to carefully pet her and now she will meow to me and rub her body on my leg...well my heart has melted.

Sounds like me! I have two gray cats who came for a meal and stayed. The old guy has been around for at least 10-11 years, and the little one about 5 or so. The older one stays pretty much around my porch as I think he has arthritis. In the winter I have heated cat houses for them on my kitchen porch. If it snows, I fix up a couple boxes and put blankets over them and the houses for a wind break, and put their food under that tent so it won't get snow on it. The old guy is now getting very thin and I don't think he will be here much longer. I am not sure if I should let him go off by himself, or try to get hi to the vet. He is not one to be picked up as the little one is. I look out the window when I come down in the mornings and there they are waiting for breakfast. I have two indoor cats as well, and another cat that comes for meals. I can't believe the cat food varieties I have for them! Love them all.

I suggest that you get them fixed or you will end up with 10 of them like I did. That gets to be expensive and crowded when they need shelter in the winter. Every evening they are lined up out the back door waiting for dinner.

@Scooby Doo @The older cat is fixed but I don’t know much about the younger cat yet.I can’t get near it and I am sure that will take a long time.You have your hands full with ten.I think you are most certainly special and kind.

I started out with one pregnant female. I felt sorry for her and started feeding her. Then she brought me 4 kittens to feed. The next year she had 4 more in her box in the back yard. So I trapped all 8 kittens and 2 parents and had them all fixed. They told all their friends about the nice lady with the food and more kittens showed up. In all, I trapped 13 cats and had them all fixed. I convinced the shelter to keep 3, one died, and one decided to live on the other end of the street. I guess it got too crowded. My grandkids call me the crazy cat lady. I just inherited them because they were starving to death. I've learned to like them, but they are a mess. I certainly don't want any more.

Thank you for caring for these kitties. I'm sure they're very happy with your generosity.

I've been down that road in the past many times. Lately, there haven't been any that I know of hanging around. Maybe the other kitties spread the word that we've had/have large dogs that scare the dickens out of them. Both of our dogs would know when I was feeding them & come to the door to really make themselves heard!

My kitties are hanging around an abandoned building.The first one i met when he called out to me one cold night as I was passing by.I have been her caregiver ever since.I hope the building never gets torn down as I don’t know what would happen The or how we would meet up.

If I feed an animal I get attached. Very fast! We just lost our Miss Kitty. She was a stray & my husband let her in the first night I found her! We took her to our Vet for a trim because once she had food she was a very long haired cat. She was about 6 years old. Well they must have sedated her too much. She passed away! She was the best cat we had ever had! So, I'm keeping her covered litter box & cat things. I am thinking that if one shows up, we're ready! My son thinks we have "suckers live here" on our house!
