WARNING!! Blue Buffalo Dog Food containing high amounts of lead!

I read this this morning that the Blue Buffalo brand dog foods contain amounts of lead way beyond the acceptable amount and was causing dogs to become sick, even die.HIgh amounts of lead can lead to cancer and other dangerous problems. One owner is pursuing this in the courts after his dog died.

Blue Buffalo has many recalls. recalls.

There is now a propsed class action suit in California against the company and that it knowingly produced and kept silent about the amounts of lead in the food.

This is so disturbing. A company that many trusted to be giving their pets good food as we hope we all are. And certainly not an inexpensive brand.

My vet told me to never use this brand because there isn’t one Vet on their board of directors.

Our Collie Rescue group tries to keep us informed about important news concerning recalls, dog food and health information.

Blue Buffalo seems to have recalls more frequently than any other brand.

There was a lawsuit a year or so ago. Blue Buffalo had chicken by products and grain as ingredients in their dog food. And the packaging stated no by products or grain.

Glad you posted. DH was just considering switching ours to this brand- as they seem to be "tired " of the premium brand they are currently eating.

Blue Buffalo Company is voluntarily recalling one production lot of BLUE Wilderness® Rocky Mountain RecipeTM Red Meat Dinner Wet Food for Adult Dogs, as the product has the potential to contain elevated levels of naturally- occurring beef thyroid hormones.
Dogs ingesting high levels of beef thyroid hormones may exhibit symptoms such as increased thirst and urination, weight loss, increased heart rate and restlessness. These symptoms may resolve when the use of the impacted food is discontinued. However, with prolonged consumption these symptoms may increase in severity and may include vomiting, diarrhea, and rapid or difficulty breathing. Should these symptoms occur, contact your veterinarian immediately.

Although the Blue Buffalo Customer Care Resource Team has not received any reports of dogs exhibiting these symptoms from consuming this product, the FDA advised Blue Buffalo of a single consumer who reported symptoms in one dog, who has now fully recovered. Blue Buffalo immediately began an investigation, however, and after working with the FDA, Blue Buffalo decided it would be prudent to recall the one production lot in question.

While the article above is true.That is a recall from March,2017. The latest recall is for ,

LARGE AMTS. OF LEAD, in their DRY FOOD................. as @on the bay stated!

@Sunshine Kate, thats what I'm wondering. I read this and thought about how my lab didn't go after his food this morning, which is not blue buffalo. Wondering if something could be wrong with my dog food.

It seems like every time we turn around, another recall. I have 4 dogs. I can't imagine making all their food.....

One thing you can do is buy a brand that manufacturers its own dog food. Diamond manufacturers so many and are always having recalls. I believe blue and taste of the wild are diamond foods.

We have chloe on purina pro plan. There is s lot of hate about this brand. But when is the last time there was s recall. They also put a ton of science behind their foods.

I called Chewy.com, Petco, and Petland. Each said there is currently no warning or recall of any Blue Buffalo brand dog food for high lead levels. I checked Dog Advisor.com and the FDA website for dog food recalls and there is currently no recall on Blue Buffalo dog food. I noticed plenty of other dog food brands that have been recalled on these websites, however.

I stand by that information from animalrescue site.

Plus if you put this topic in the search bar, you will find reputable sites-nbc.com,classaction.org,truthaboutpetfood, basically lots of reports on this and there is definitely a class action in the making against this company.

They have had numerous recalls as well from other things.

@Bhvbum-

There's absolutely no need for shaming each other. I"m pretty careful about researching the authenticity of reports before posting.

I think you can do your own research if any doubt.

I don't have my grandogs anymore but they have gotten sick before from that recall back in around 2008 from several dog foods tainted with melanine -we were awarded back all money from their medical bills. Fortunately they didn't die from it.

I always appreciate any warnings and recalls people post on the pet forum and you should too. If we have doubts, we should keep researching.

It is scary. Food we hope and think is safe may not be. We hopefully can find a company that we trust and that has not had numerous recalls.

Its always unnerving to find food we fed our precious pets is making them sick.

Many people are saying that after feeding them this brand , they either died or got sick, before their time.

Studies were done on the large amount of lead in some of the brands from Blue Buffalo.

People can research further on their own for peace of mind.

If I see a recall once from a company, I tend not to trust them anymore. But thats how I feel.

I stopped buying BB about 1-1/2 years ago. My dog wouldn't eat it, & the cats were vomiting EVERY SINGLE DAY.

I just purchased a new brand called "Victor" from Chewy. This is the first brand of dog food my Golden LOVES. I called the company, & they told me it's made in the USA with USA ingredients.

I'm thrilled because the blend I buy is also non-GMO.

I recently purchased "Victor" brand from Chewy. My dog LOVES it!

I called the company which is located in Texas. It's a USA company, made with USA ingredients. The blend I purchased was made with non-GMO ingredients.

I did not know about the lead but my vet said there is way too much fat in the food. I changed to Science diet weight control and my pomeranian seemed like a new dog. I cannot say he is losing weight but he really acts like he feels so much better. I was shocked at the difference a food could make in how they feel.
