Automatic Litter Boxes. Do you own one?

The one I have is called "Litter-Robot II Bubble" and it is a Godsend. I only have to change it once a week. Never have to scoop. Just pull out the litter liner & dump in the trash/incinerater. And the best part is that this litter box only dumps the "clumps" & keeps the clean litter. So you save on purchasing litter. The litter box is a tad expensive but, worth every penny.

I've had this one going on 5 yrs now.

With my old cat who passed away 10 yrs ago, I had a LitterMaid w/the tent, the original version. Had it for about 15 yrs & got tired of cleaning the "comb." I've heard that the newer version is so much better.

We had the litter maid. It didn't seem to keep the box clean and the combs required too much attention. Then there was the matter of odor...Just seemed easier to scoop the box. Does your current one contain odor?

Yes it does. Matter of fact it comes with the filters already installed. I haven't changed it yet. Besides, the container that the clumps are dropped in I believe are air tight. You never smell anything after the "clumps" are dumped.

Also, the type of litter you get can control smells. I use Fresh Step w/odor shield.

Took my cat a week. What worked for me in the end was to make a trail to the litter box w/his favorite treat. After that he ignored his old litter box.

After he did his business, my cat would sit in front of it to watch the litter box turn. I took a video of him. His head would turn with the globe. Funniest thing ever!!!!!

The user manual has tips & tricks on how to get your cat to use it.

I had the littermaid, but without the tent. It was awful. Everything got caught in the rake and I had to constantly change the receptical. I had two adult cats using it. I'd rather scoop.

What worked for me w/the comb/rake was spraying Pam on it. Not a lot, just a coating. Worked like a charm.

In the end I gave my LitterMaid to an older couple. Advised them about Pam. They sent me a thank you card for that tip. LOL

As for the receptical, I always lined them w/those plastic bags that you get from the supermarket.

I am not into scooping since I am away from home days at a time.

I was considering the Cat Genie which advertises that you never need to buy kitty litter again. The cat is 16 though and may not take to it and it's pricey.
