What ball park do you pay a year? I have a 6 year old Golden and it is going to cost about $750.00 this next year. Just curious what you pay. I have PetPlan, but considering switching to Healthy Paws this next enrollment period as they have a better value in their plan set up for the same price.

@SeaMaiden I don't have an answer for you because I have never had pet insurance. I will be interested in any input you get on this. What type of care does insurance cover? This past winter, we did chemo for our dog and other diagnostic tests plus an overnight hospital stay in intensive care. Just wondering if pet insurance would cover anything like that.

I hope you get some response to your post!

I have had Healthy Paws for over a year and been pleased with it. I have a 4 year old French Bulldog and pay around $57 a month. I'm sure insurance is higher for Frenchies due to their health issues.

@tends2dogs Depending on who you had your insurance coverage with, it would have covered the chemotherapy and cancer care for your dog as long as it wasn't a pre-existing condition. There is a deductable and then it pays whatever percentage you have chosen. Go to consumers advocate dot org and read about the top ten health insurance companies and what they cover.

Yes, everyone of those Plans excludes Pre X conditions. Even if your pet wasn't diagnosed, but had SYMPTOMS of a condition later diagnosed, would all be excluded.
