It's interesting what the dogs choose to do. I had a bull dog who would choose to sleep in a pile of cats. They would wait for him to lie down and then cover him.

We had a Golden Retriever who was like that with our two adult cats. She'd lay down in front of the fireplace and then they'd curl up against her tummy.
