@monicakm Praziquantal is the standard anthelmintic drug for tapeworms, your vet can get you the correct dose for your Frankie's weight. As to how she ate a flea, she might have found or even killed a mouse or rat outdoors and eaten it, along with any fleas that were on it's skin. That's the normal route of infestation. You should probably deworm any other pets that live in the household, since you did not find the tapeworm segment stuck to the hair near Frankie's "rear end", it might have come from another pet. The only preventative medication I know of is the heartworm/dewormer Interceptor Plus, which contains praziquantal as well as the heartworm drug, that is given as an oral medication once a month. If Frankie is a dedicated mouser, you might consider switching from Bravecto to Interceptor Plus, or you'll be dealing with repeat infestations.

Yesterday I found something disturbing on one of the tile floors in our house. Turns out it was tapeworm segments. Our dogs have been on bravecto for as long as we've had them. I called my vet and she said bravecto does not kill or prevent tapeworms. She said Frankie would have had to eaten a flea. How does that even happen? According to her there is no prevention only treatment. Does anyone have any experience with this product that I can get on Amazon? Our vet's office is about 40 minutes away.
