I've been watching this series for a while and I've been wondering...Dr. Pol is about 80 years old and still working full blast. Will he ever retire? Will he work till the day he drops dead? (That wouldn't surprise me.)

And when he's gone/retired, who's going to take over? I think Dr. Brenda is the obvious choice but who knows...she's not so young herself and she might want to retire too.

Also--I think he's a good vet and I'd have him treat my animals in a New York minute but I don't like the way he treats his son Charles. He can rarely refrain from making some snarky remark about him and I think it's a very unpleasant part of his personality. I think his wife Diane is a real sweetheart. They seem very affectionate to each other and I can't imagine what she'll do if he goes before she does.

ETA: One of the funniest things I've ever seen was a teeny, tiny little doggo (probably some kind of chiuwawa mix) curling its lip and snarling at Dr. Pol, who is about 20 times the size of that dog. Cracked up Dr. Pol and the memory still makes me laugh.

I often see Dr. Pol handle sick animal, even tiny kittens, very roughly. I also think he's very casual in his use of antiseptic practices. He has been censored by the state veterinary board. I don't like to see these things, although I think he basically a good man. He's very gracious to fans who visit him.

I just recently saw an older episode where it was revealed that Charles and his two siblings are all adopted. I never knew that. Thought Charles was his biological son for some reason.

I watch the show often, a big fan here and I do think he is incredible... just fearless! In my perception, He isn't mean to Charles but just jokes around with him a lot!
I only recently realized the show was all Charles' idea! But I did know all the children are adopted-

Charles' 2 children are just adorable and little Abigail looks exactly like him! Soooo cute!
