Canned cat food shortage?

Is anyone else having a problem finding canned wet cat food "with gravy" (specifically Fancy Feast)?

I've been to 4 stores and the shelves are bare.

i don't have a cat, but I noticed around a month ago, that the cat food shelves in grocery stores in my area are empty...sometimes there is only a few cans available...no variety.

I buy my dog food from Petco online. The type I buy is no longer available in their stores. I always keep up with a supply, because I am afraid I will not be able to get any.

Hello! I have a kitty Bella and she also eats Fancy Feast in gravy.

I've been doig auto-ship with Chewy for quite some time and never have a problem. You can cancel at anytime and also you can adjust your ship dates. I'm on every 8 weeks but I always end up adjusting it to a few weeks later. You can add items or subtract to your liking. They've never had a shortage on the varities that she eats. They are very good to deal with and have never had a problem.

Our local grocery stores have had shortages of canned cat foods of all varities for many months.

Yes, I'm in MD and it has been this way for me since March 2021. Same brand, but noted that the shelves have ZERO brands. I did the Amazon subscribe thing back in Nov., but they keep cancelling my order because "out of stock". Wal-Mart online & Chewy doesn't have either.

Now I'm having the same problem with cat litter. My dad says "we don't even make cat litter in this country?" Lol

This is pic I took last March & it hasn't changed since. When there are a couple cans, they are pate or beef...my cats don't like.

Even Chewy is not the reliable source it once was. So many items say 'temporarily out of stock' and they have been saying so for weeks. At the same time, you can request that they alert you when the item is back in stock, but that too isn't reliable as it once was. It's time for Nestle, which makes Fancy Feast, to step up their game just as they've stepped up their prices.

The problem with Amazon is that some of their 3rd party vendors that are selling the food, are gouging prices unbelievably. I'm not just talking about the inflated prices we're seeing across the board, I mean serious price gouging and Amazon is doing nothing about it.

Cat food shortages have been going on for well over a year. It's truly hit or miss! Even Chewy has been sold out for months of one of my staples. I've found a dozen or so cans every now & than in stores & buy all they have which I'm assuming everyone else does w the specific kinds their kitties need! I feel no guilt "clearing the shelf" when I find my specific kind! My kitties depend on me to find their food!

The only brand & flavor of canned food my cat eats is sold out near me so had to travel 48 miles & settlle for half of the quantity I wanted, it's all they had. It's temporarily unavailable online so I'll be driving again if I'm lucky enough to find it...ugh.

My cats eat Merrick moist food and it had been difficult to find on the shelves and Chewy even was out of stock for awhile. Chewy even had issues fulfilling my FreshStep litter order a few times. Thankfully it is fine right now.

Someone at a pet store told me it may be due to imported ingredients or even issues getting metal for the cans.

Thought Merrick was all U.S. sourced but it isn't so now I would like to find some new food. Any suggestions?

NOT TRUE. Merrick’s foods are made in the USA. Most ingredients are grown by local farmers. And none are sourced from China.

Yes. I have 3 cats that eat Fancy Feast canned food and i have a hard time finding it. I have been ordering from Chewy.

Our kitty Winston eats Blue Tastefuls Chicken Morsels In sauce. I order from Amazon with no problems, as this is the only food he has eaten since he was adopted two years back and loves it.

At both Chewy and Amazon if your regular cat food configuration is out of stock look for alternatives.

My cat eats Fancy Feast seafood pate and my supply getting way too low. I had been on autodelivery at both places to two packs of 12 and kept being told they were out of stock. When I started searching I found that the 24 can pack was available so changed to that configuration.

since that discovery I have gone back and forth with configurations several times but at least I am getting her preferred food.

@RinaRina Yup,raises my hand. My local Kroger store yesterday was completely sold out of any FF. I looked at other stores and couldn't find any. I looked on Chewy and they were all out. I finally found some on walmart.com and my order will be here Saturday. I have a 18 year old who is the pickiest eater. Every day is a challenge what he will eat. I find he will always lick the gravy lovers so he's eating something. I try other brands and he turns his nose up to it. I've had the best luck with FF gravy lovers. I also saw some 24 pack of gravy lovers on Amazon so check there. HTH

I had heard on the news that there is a aluminum shortage. However,it seems like the dog food stock looks plentiful so who knows????
