Pet beds for large dogs

I had bought some fur haven pet beds, the covers are just terrible ,they tear ,shred,during washing, what is your favorites for your dogs?

Our dog had 2 beds. I know one was made by Serta and I think the other one was too.

We got them at Sam's Club. When we donated them, they looked as good as the day we bought them. They were well made and had ortho foam. The covers came off easily, so you could wash them.

When we donated them to the SPCA, they even commented how nice they were. Our dog was 75 pounds and they were a comfortable fit for him. Until we got him, he never had a bed. But as soon as we showed them to him, he immediately parked himself in them.

One bed looked like this.

The other bed had the sides of the bed all the way around. And yes we had a collie.

@goldensrbest I used to purchase more expensive beds for the beagles, but quickly realized as long as they had a zipper cover to remove and wash, they were good and the dogs never complained. Because I keep one in the sunroom, our room and my studio, expensive beds don't make sense for me. I replace them when necessary...every few years.

I've purchased very good ones at Target, Sam's and HomeyGoods.

***Oh, when the weather gets colder, we put small throw rugs under Molly's beds to insulate them from the colder floors.

I have 100 plus pound Chessies. I buy the thick cushioned ortho pet beds from Costco. The top portion zips off so it can be washed. My boys love them. They also don't seem to compress and flatten.....last a really long time.

I bought large flat dog pillow beds (no sides). I learned to sew "envelope" pillow covers (from a YouTube video) and made covers out of old dark floral bedsheets. Wash weekly....and they are easy getting on and off.

@goldensrbest I recently bought two (one upstairs and one downstairs) of the "Best Friends by Sheri" calming beds from Chewy. Our dog, and even our cat, loves that bed. Washed once, so far, and it turned out just fine.

Another bed my dog has is from Frontgate, very similar to item #35329 that they're now offering. The one he has is more like a faux suede, but otherwise it's identical. He loves that bed, too.

My experience with the cheaper pet beds ,have not been good, no more furhaven beds, i have a large foster and smith pet bed, that have had for years, waterproof cover, but some of my past babies have not liked the cover.

@goldensrbest I would recommend the Big Barker beds. They have a website. They were originally only made for big dogs, but a couple of years ago they started making the Barker Jr. Ava sleeps on hers every night. She has two beds in my bedroom, and this is the one she chooses. They're orthopedic dog beds.

We have been fighting the good fight with a large, water, big paw girl. She does not dig in the yard, but just show her a bed. Shredded in a sec. So I patch.

I have bought Majestic Pet beds for my babies and once they get in one, they don't want to get out...lol! I buy their 'Bagel Bed', ones with a removable cover. Also, the entire bed is washable, too. The materials they use are soft but tough as nails. My girl sleeps in an XL size. She likes the extra room. The beds do run a bit small so go up a size.

I have GSD's and none of them would use a bed for themselves. The two I have now use the beds as their toy box. What our dogs prefer is a large down or down alt throw or twin size blanket and a Berkshire throw. The down/down alt lets their fur/skin breathe so they don't overheat and the throw just seems to comfort them. I just make two spots for them and that's what they use. They eat have a bedtime toy and are very content and comfy.

I try to find them on clearance or some sale which makes it even a better deal.

I've got 5 dogs ... ranging from 15 pounds to 149 pounds. I got tired of just being able to clean the dog bed covers and still having stinky dog beds, so about 4 months ago I threw out the ones I had and replaced them with the largest size dog beds from My Pillow. So far, they are holding up really well and and my 85 pound GSD and 149 pound CC seem to love them ... the smaller dogs do too, but they seem to be providing enough support for the bigger two.. I love that I can wash the bed itself, as well as the cover. About a week after I got them, one of the dogs puked on one of the beds and it came out of the washer and dryer with no problems. Also nice that they are made in USA.

If you decide to buy one ... or anything else on their site ... look online for coupon codes. I got 50% off all of the beds and an extra coupon for signing up for their emails.

I purchased one yesterday from Pet Supplies Plus which matched Amazon's Prime deal. Mine included the blanket too.

I plan on adopting a dog hopefully the 1st of the year.

I got Khloe’s day bed at Sam’s 2 years ago. It’s also a Serta and it’s held beautifully.

I just went to Serta's website, and they don't have anything available except replacement covers. I wonder if they've been discontinued. They are available at other places though.
