Perdita the "World's Worst Cat"

Meet Perdita, not for the faint of heart.

LIKES: staring into your soul until you feel as if you may never be cheerful again; the song Cat Scratch Fever, the movie Pet Cemetery (Church is her hero), jump scares (her specialty), lurking in dark corners, being queen of her domicile, fooling shelter staff into thinking she's sick (vet agrees...she's just a jerk)

DISLIKES: the color pink, kittens (yuk they are so chipper), dogs, children, the Dixie Chicks, Disney movies, Christmas and last but NOT least...HUGS.

She's single and ready to be socially awkward with a socially awkward human who understands personal space. FREE ADOPTION

Perdita could be mourning the lose of her mommy. Sometimes a patient loving parent can make all the difference and soften a hurting heart. I hope she finds a compassionate home soon. She's a beauty.

Hey ~ Are you serious? I know the place. Could get her from NC to PA by car....but how to get from PA to where you live(?) which of course I have no clue.....This Kitty must have gone through Hell-0 to be this way. I think Lots-Of-Love is what She needs. Hope She can find a GOOD home with someone with TONS of patience.

Such a pretty kitty ! I read that the adoption ad was sort of 'toung in cheek', and that Perdita is not really that bad. Those things were written mostly to get attention for a quick adoption. As we cat lovers know, some are very affectionate, and some are a bit more aloof. Doesn't mean that they can not feel love.

CATegorically AGAINST giving animals away for FREE. nothing good usually comes of it....for the pet I mean.

She's pretty but putting the negative spin for the sake of humor - isn't especially kind.

Exactly what I was thinking, @phoenixbrd . Hope someone adopts her and gives this poor girl a chance.

My heart breaks for her. Of course she is missing her prior life and her owner. Now she's in a noisy place with all kinds of strangers. Who wouldn't be crabby? I wish I could adopt her, and I hope a nice understanding person does. I'll bet her personality changes in just days.

When I met my Missy and Kitters, Missy was so depressed, she hunched in a corner just staring at the wall. Their owner, who adopted the sickly feral two-month-old kittens and taught them to love, brought them back to the humane society exactly eight years to the day because she got two new kittens! Within a day in my home, when she could snuggle and get kisses on the top of her head again, Missy was a changed cat. Sadly, it turned out that both Kitters and Missy were in poor health and I didn't have nearly enough time with them. But I am so glad they knew happiness and love again. I hope the same for this dear kitty.

The sad news is the owner died. And probably died worrying about what would happen to her kitty.

Luckily, there are shelters like this, that take in cats.

I have two cats now (mother and daughter).

All my cats have had clipped ears. (Notched by rescue groups that neuter them, give them a rabies shot (?) and send them back out into the wild. I'm not *wild* about that idea, but that's a whole 'nuther can of worms....literally.

Back to Pernacious, I mean Perdita. She's lucky.

She's inside in controlled temperatures.

If she has worms or an ear (or worse EYE) infection, it will be taken care of.

If she's hungry, there's food.

She won't die of thirst looking for a clean source of water. Or get sick from drinking bad water.

She may not want to cuddle, but she doesn't look like she wants to cuddle!

My cats would have a FIT if we EVER picked them up. Doesn't mean they aren't loveable, you can't pet them enough!

So thank you to @Marp and the thousands of others who work/volunteer in shelters and for veterinarians, also, who help these cats.

I'm not a *cat* person, but my heart goes out to the strays/feral/ WILD ones.

Quite honestly, reading the *resume* for Perdita seems very apropos for most cats.

Perdita is no longer among Mitchell's Petfinder listings. Their Facebook page, which has a video of Perdita being petted (until she growls), says they're going through the 50+ applications they've received from people who want to adopt her. Hopefully, she'll be matched up with the perfect person/people. Beautiful animal.

This description could be my tortie as well. Shes cranky, loud and demanding. She sheds like a maniac and coughs up fur balls if I neglect to give her that brown gel every day. She comes to me begging to be petted, flops down to expose her soft belly and then smacks me (she’s got claws) if I pet her anywhere but on her head.

Having said that, she’s the best cat ever! She always uses her litter box even if I forget to clean it. Since I had 2 very loving and affectionate cats previously who occasionally would use my bathroom rug instead of urinating in their litter box, I think having my current cat is heaven! 😄😄😄 I’ll take cranky over stepping on a urine soaked rug anytime.
