Anyone hem the ponte knit pants?

I have the Ponte knit pants (A268216) and need to hem them but don't have a surger machine to finish them like they are now. Would using a regular sewing maching be ok?

I am tall and do not need to hem them but I am sure you can use some seam binding and hem them. The hem they have now reminds me of yoga pants. I think they will look much better with a real hem.

If your sewing machine won't zigzag, I get some of that narrow silky edge binding and sew along the raw edge. This stuff.

I know I'm lazy and will probably mess it up, so I have a seamstress to do a professional hem and she charges $8. Wish I can sew like some of you can, would save a lot of money. I usually will wait for a petite pants to buy but I had to have these ponte pants.

$8 for hemming is a bargain. Here (northern VA) they charge $12-$15 to hem. I'm just a tad too tall for a petite, so I have to have everything hemmed. These ponte pants are well worth it.
