Christmas cards?

For the 42 years DH and I have been married we have sent personalized Christmas cards, 90% of the were purchased from the National Wildlife group. I like to support them and because we are members and have a registered habitat. We used to send many, now we send 15 or 18, but the number is dwindling. Our list decreases as folks pass on, which makes me so melancholy when I'm getting them ready to go out.We used to send to the aunts (they are now all deceased), then to cousins out of town (only 3 are left on the list-the others have asked that we not send because of the cost) and distant friends-many of whom we have not seen for years. Most of the camping acquaintances are e-cards-but even those are now posting on Facebook!
Do you still send Christmas cards thru the US mail?

Not every year! This year we will though. Our list is smaller as well. We usually only send to out of town friends and close relatives!

I cut way back and now I don't send them every year. Just depends on what I feel like doing at the time. What I really can't stand are the "brag" letters that come in the card. We hear from these relatives once a year and it's a 2 page letter of all their vacations etc. They should save their money!

Yes, but like many others, less and less. I think a lot of this is not only losing connections but lots are just not sending anymore and I think it is nice when it is reciprocal.

Some send in response to getting one and it makes me think that if they hadn't gotten one, they wouldn't send.

And it's ok. It should be something that someone, me included, likes to do not out of obligation or responding to one sent is how I feel about it. Though when someone sends me one, I do send one too.

I guess I have mixed feelings about it all.

But I do send lots of birthday cards to family and friends.

Yes, and I always will. Letter writing and sending cards seems to be a lost art. I still love receiving Christmas cards, and I love sending Christmas cards. I think ecards and texts are very impersonal. That's just my opinion.

I can think of 1 card I will send to an aging cousin, otherwise nope! I never enjoyed it and am happy to not feel obligated to do it any longer. We get fewer too, way fewer than past years.

BTW, don't forget the price of stamps goes up on the 14th. I send maybe 6.

@We rescue cats Yes, yes, YES! I love to send Christmas cards. It takes me months to pick out the perfect cards, but they are harder to find each year. The numbers, as you said, have decreased each year; but we still send out about 70 to 80. I don't receive as many as I send, but I sill like sending a personal greeting. People have told us they wait for our card each year.

Maybe five by mail. We see our kids and grandkids anyway so hand them out.

My parents used to send out around 100. Imagine the cost today.

I only mail cards to a few to a couple of people who still don't use computers or smart phones.

Otherwise - cards are sent through email.

I have a few cousins that send my cards, I always say I am going to reciprocate but I don't. I feel bad, I use to send lots of cards every year.

I have a list of about 20-25. I make all my cards and no two are alike, I love making them and keeping in tough with others.

I have no interest in either sending or receiving Christmas cards anymore. The people I keep in touch with will shoot a holiday text & we go back & forth a few times catching up.

My husband has a huge family (none nearby) & the nieces & nephews always send family photograph cards. I don't know why they bother as we just look at them & throw away as we do all cards. Don't have room to keep all these. (We have at least 25 nieces & nephews & more great nieces & nephews) They post constant family photos on Facebook so if we want to see them can look there.

@JeanLouiseFinch hate the brag letters too! There was an "Everybody Loves Raymond" episode skewering them.

I like sending and receiving Christmas Cards. Every once in awhile I will skip a year, ususally because I put it off too long and then it was too late.

I almost always include a photo of the whole family, and sometimes that get together is only a week or two before Christmas. IF I include any family info, it is usually brief, but I don't do that too often. I usually send out about 40 cards.

My Mom left boxes and boxes of unused Christmas cards, so I feel like I should use them up in her honor.

Stamp prices are going up in the new few days - 73 cents for a first class stamp. So if you need stamps, you should get them by Saturday.

Yes I send cards and will continue to do so as long as I am capable and still have people to send cards too. The list shrinks some every year as friends and family pass, but I don't trim anyone. I feel it is important to let people know they are remembered.

I send cards for all occasions and no card leaves this house without a personal note.

I will probably never live long enough to send all of the cards that are in my house right now; birthday, sympathy, thinking of you, blank, thank you, and a truckload of Christmas cards! I enjoy sending cards.

I quit sending cards years ago...ALL kinds of cards. We still get a few birthday & Christmas cards, but don't reciprocrate. It seems such a waste to me...they all just get thrown away.

We will send out about a dozen, so many less than other years. Some have passed away and also stamps go up on July 15th. Merry Christmas in July...
