Do You Hang "Holiday Pictures" At Christmas?

Yesterday at a very good Christmas (beautiful items, not just glass ornaments) Shop, I saw several 20" x 20" printed canvases of a wreath, a beautiful Santa, and several other subjects to hang during holiday.

Does that appeal to you? I feel it's too much here.

They do have some pretty picture type things to hang for the holidays but for me, that would just be too much work. It takes all we have now just to do the traditional decor, LOL! I do have a framed Thomas Kinkaide that I love and leave up all year. It has 3 pictures of Victorian Christmas Past. To me they just look like beautiful winter scenes so it has a permanent spot in my home.

@ECBG I love those holiday pictures, but I don't want to store them all year long to display for a month.

My mom did a needlepoint of a santa and I love it. She's downsizing and moving in with me in a few weeks, and it's one of the pictures we're not getting rid off. I'll display it at my house and then our house when we move to Georgia in about a year and a half. I'll happily store it so I can display it at our house each year.

We have slimmed down to a tree, a wreath on the door, a lighted angel outside, and a Nativity set. Beyond that is too much for us any more.

I would leave those prints up all year as well. Kincade's work is breathtaking!

No.

But my mother did two needlepoint pictures of a holiday nature. My sister and I each took one. I have mine tucked into a book case year round. It is a happy reminder of my mom and how much she enjoyed working on them. They don't scream Christmas.

I don't hang pictures but I do places several photos of my son at age 9 months, sitting on Santa's lap. He is pulling on Santa's beard and they are both laughing . It is just a cute memory.

Yes, I hang Christmas art, but then I decorate the whole house. My most prized picture is a matted and framed photo of my first visit to Santa at 2 1/2. We won't discuss how old that makes me. I also framed and triple matted a vintage Christmas cover of Etude Magazine where Santa in on a snow covered roof trying to figure out how to get a Baby Grand down the chimney. I am also a card maker, so I have framed collages of my favorite Christmas cards that I made each year. Every year I say I am not going to get all my Christmas stuff our, but usually mid November I succumb to the approaching season.

My best friend and her mother did a triptic needlepoint of three individual wisemen. They were huge and quite spectacular. I think it took them three years to finish them, but wow! I don't do needlepoint, but I was jealous.

Years ago, I got a wall hanging tapestery (from HSN, I believe). It had a Kincade (or look alike) snow scene on one side and the other side is more of a spring scene. So I just flip it over from the winter scene after the season. The thing that was cool about the winter scene was that it had a few tiny lights placed throughout. Unfortnately, they no longer work. But the scene is still quite pretty. I like that I can leave it up all year.

Yes. Had some digital images from Etsy printed out to frame sizes we already have hanging in our home. We store the winter/holiday photos behind the all-year images in the same frames and just switch them out. And then change them back when we're ready for winter to fade away.

It's nice to see so many of you are hanging on to seasonal, handmade pieces that your loves ones worked on. I am also a stitcher. This year, I am hoping to stitch something seasonal for us to keep -- just have to decide on which piece. It seems I'm always stitching for others, so I'm eager to dig into a project for our home.

@ECBG @LindaSal I think Kinkade's settings are beautiful. Some of the houses are actual existing Victorians in his home town of Placerville CA. My parents retired from the Bay Area to 3 miles away from Placerville, he had his studio in town and he'd be there once in a while. Locals can spot the houses, it was fun finding them.

@ECBG I took seasonal photos of our house with the surrounding trees in winter, spring and fall and had them made into canvas prints. The winter is during a beautiful snowfall with our large blue spruce; the spring is our weeping cherry in bloom; and the fall is with our two towering white oaks in full autumn color. I prop them up on the music stand of my grandmother's pump organ during the appropriate season. That's pretty much it.

Sometimes I change out the bedroom pictures depending on who will be visiting..

Yes I remove my 2 pictures in my DR and replace them with 2 nice prints. It completes the look with my holiday decorating.

I love the idea of your home in different seasons! SO creative. I don't have the room. I have a full 1800's spinning wheel in my great room.
