Temptations holiday is transferware?

I have a big set of Temptations hand painted OW. My color is no longer available, so I m replacing it slowly as the pieces craze and get chipped. I'm watching the holiday show tonight, and I guess I had not realized they do a lot of pieces with transfers rather than hand painting. It's just not very special with the transfers. Even the little cardinal is a transfer on the woodland. Is it just me?

@HappyShopping205 - Sadly, yes—over the past few years, Temp-tations has started releasing lots of very detailed whimsical patterns, and nearly all of them are done with decals (Tara now calls them "hand applied" rather than "handpainted" decorations). The pieces are still just as safe to use and I haven't seen any complaints about the decals wearing off the stoneware (the glassware is another story). But I totally agree that the quality of the past is just not there with these pieces. And you have to be careful when they have "new pieces" in an already-released pattern like Pumpkin Patch or Harvest because about 75% of the time, they're selling the decal version rather than the handpainted version, and they really don't go together very well.

@HappyShopping205. Why don't you ditch theTemptations and replace it with some good quality bake and dinnerware that doesn't chip or craze? I wouldn't invest anymore money in a bad product.

I never believed for a nano second that Temptations were individually hand painted ... if so, some were done by kindergarteners😉

I have polish pottery now there's talented painters and some pieces are over 20 years old and still perfect...no crazing or cracking.

@homedecor1. I have Dansk dinner and bakeware with all kinds of pieces. I've used it about 35 years and have never had a chip or craze. I also think it highly unlikely that Temptations was ever hand painted.

I noticed too. A turn off for me. I have pieces from all the years and so dissappointed.

FWIW, I am pretty sure Temp-tations pieces were/are handpainted when promoted as such; I have returned plenty of pieces with terrible paint jobs that clearly seemed to have been done by poorly trained or rushed workers. And several of the design elements are obviously done with stamps (as is the case with elements of Polish pottery and other similar stoneware), so that would help with consistency in production.

Also FWIW, I own dozens of Temp-tations pieces collected over decades, and I've never had a single crack or any crazing at all; perhaps I'm just the luckiest person on the planet in this area, but I'd find it easier to believe that there has been quality in the line, just not a consistent level of it.

The pieces I have from when they were introduced are still perfect and no crazing at all.

Now, if I buy it's for serving only -- I've thrown many pieces away over the past year or two for various things mostly chipping or crazed.

Temptations are massed produced in the millions-- no way to have 💯% quality control. Although, I have dollar store dishes and the quality is the same bought for $1 (before the price increase).
