I was looking around on youtube to see the newer methods for aranging flowers.

I found Ramon, and at only 19 videos he has over 2K subscribers! He's genuine and very talented!

His designs are over the top, but his methods aren't hard!

@ECBG Thank you for directing us to Ramon. OMG, I went down the rabbit hole watching his videos. What fun!

I have been making wreaths and creating floral arrangements since the 70's, but I'm not too old to learn a few new tricks.

Even though I prefer fresh floral arrangements, I'm now inspired to pull out some of my gorgeous, stored away silk flowers and create something new.

Also, my forsythia is starting to get some buds. It has been years since I have cut any and brought some inside. Or, maybe I'll do something for the porch.

As I just posted to Oznell, today I found AFloral, an on line site with beautiful, quality elements. I am putting together a rather tall arrangement using the laytex "Real Touch" flowers from Sundance. If you work design you understand my meaning when I say "beautiful elements make beautiful projects".

Over the years there has been so many terrible looking "silk" flowers, they are almost a stigma.

I'm going to get a cut glass pitcher as a container in my dining room of primitive antiques. The pitcher is similar to this:

@ECBG I looked at the AFloral website and the flowers are beautiful. I know what you mean about the polyester "silk" flowers that are sold in the craft stores today. They are probably

made in China. Thirty years ago, we had some great craft stores here with high quality florals and greens. I can no longer find the

hand painted Della Robbia fruit that was made in Italy. I also used velvet leaves. Now everything is plastic.

Those small craft stores are gone and we only have Joann and Michael's.

You can still get some vintage florals and greens on Etsy and ebay. I've bought millinary flowers and beautiful little vintage birds on Etsy.

The pitcher that you are getting will be perfect for a

floral arrangement. I have several antique pitchers and one is cut glass, one is cobalt blue glass and the oldest one is early

brown transfer ware from England. It was over 100 years old, when I bought it in the 70's. It was made by Doulton, it has an allover tiny floral & vines pattern with tiny moths, grasshoppers, dragonflies and butterflies. The body is round like a ball and the top is a helmut shaped spout. I have never seen anything else with that pattern. My # 2 daughter would love to have it, since it would fit in with her collection of Primitives, but she is not getting it...yet.

If I need more flowers, I think that AFloral would be a great source. Thank you

Speaking of our children and the treasure, DS wants a farm table like mine which I bought at age 28! I have have looked all over and can't find one! Of course, he ate at tht table since he could have table food!

We were lucky enough to be "adopted" by an man that delt in antiques. He would bring me whatever I asked for!

I have a dealer looking for a table, but it is mostly a new table made from old wood.

@ECBG That was so nice to have someone to find antique pieces for you. My first husband and I went to an auction every Friday night when we were collecting antiques. We also would go to flea markets and antique shows. There were so many sources in the Northeast in the 70's.

My husband bought a little building that had two shops. He moved his printing business into one side and I set up

a shop on the other side. At first, I made all kinds of things and sold them. Then my two aunts put some of their handcrafted items into the shop for sale. One of the things I sold was floral arrangements. Sometimes people brought in their own vase or other container for me to create an arrangement for them.

Then I morphed into selling antiques at the shop. It was fun, finding the next treasure to sell. But after a few years,

sitting in the shop got to be a drag, so we brought our best stuff home and we only sold on Sundays at an antiques marketplace

where we rented a tiny shop. We still went to the Friday night auctions and found great stuff.

My whole family has always been into antiques and I learned a lot from my grandmother. I collected mostly Art Nouveau and Victorian. My oldest daughter is into Art Deco and my second daughter is into Primitive. She is on the lookout for a table for her kitchen. I have bought her a few firkins of different sizes.

My son is into Craftsman and Arts & Crafts style.

Are you looking for a table for yourself or for your son?

It would be lovely if he could have a table like the one he grew up with. One made with old wood sounds like a great idea.

My cousin made a pine trestle table for my aunt and

she was very happy with it.

By 1980, I was ready to go back to school for my degree. In 1984 we divorced and my husband sold the printing business and the building.

I go by my old shop and wish I had that building now.

My grown daughters and I could do so much there. They are all very creative.

The only perk for me living next to one of the largest cities in NC was the once a month antique show at the fair grounds where eventually, they grew into 4 one story buildings.

Here it is too little furniture and too much glass.

I have never been fortunate enough to be able to go to shows like you describe. Of course if I came across it, I couldn't part with it! lol!!!

My husband and I love to go to a flea market...when we can find a decent one...these days there is a lot of glass and other stuff that we are not interested in.

Our house is decorated with a mix of antiques, family pieces and things new we have bought. If necessary I have stripped a few pieces, to remove bad paint jobs, etc.

Now we browse antique shops and flea markets for fun, no room in the house for new pieces, unless I could sell something, and not many people are interested in paying a fair price.

This summer my project is to clean up our dining room chairs, they need to be sanded down and restained, thank goodness the cane bottoms are in good shape.

Especially nice that he mentions getting flowers from Walmart or Dollar stores, since it's always good to save a little $ but have some nice holiday decor.

You are SO welcome. I have looked at the flowers close up which he mentions and they don't look "real" in anyway and are obviously polyester. Much is lost through a computer screen.

I would suggest you go to a craft store if you want a creation that looks as beautiful close up.

It depends on what you are looking for. I turned away from polyester to good silk flowers years ago, now, "Real Touch" is truly beautiful.
