I have a couple of experiences buying "as is items". Be prepared for the fact there may be an obvious flaw on the product that someone who was paying full price was not willing to overlook. I bought some of Valerie's glazing balls as is and one ball had obvious flaws which I could overlook. Another time I bought a hand bag and the tassel was missing.

Before ordering you should think about how willing you are to accept flaws and missing pieces.

@judgejudith Yes, you are correct that some items are flawed, but so is regular priced items. I've purchased a lot of 'as is' with about the same luck as the other. We have the same return privilege with 'as is' and I hope you returned the inferior merchandise that you ordered. You don't have to keep the items that are unacceptable. I suspect these scenes under glass flaws are bubbles in the glass for one thing. I'm not suggesting that anyone order these, just that they are available in 'as is'.

Thanks, @lucymo. It's good to see them finally show up, right? I was beginning to wonder if they ever would.

The only recent issue I have had with as-is merchandise is that twice lately, I have been sent the wrong as-is item. The label on the outside of the box was the correct item, but the contents were wrong. Sometimes I wonder if whoever is re-packaging these things thinks it won't matter, that we will end up keeping whatever it is just because it's a deal. Wrong!

@SHOPR I've had that happen a couple of times too, SHOPR. I actually kept the last one as it was a fall berry wreath and not a thing wrong with it, very pretty and hanging in my kitchen.

I am a little disappointed that the price on these cloches isn't somewhat lower. That's still quite high to me but a nice saving over the $49+ regular price. I have the church and carolers so don't really need another one. Are you getting one?

@lucymo, If they would mistakenly send me nice items like they sent you, then I might consider keeping them. So far, all I've gotten is junk. ;-)

I just did some math, and the cloches are roughly 25% off the price they were sold as the TSV, and roughly 30% off the current price. The discounts do seem to be shrinking lately on the newly added as is items.

I don't think I will order a cloche. I was so lucky to get a very nice looking snowman cloche when they were a TSV. I have to think of where I will be displaying all this stuff! I only have so many tabletops. :-(

I understand about the tabletops. I can adjust the shelves in bookcases at either end of the entertainment center and use a pair there but too many of the same pieces tend to look a little busy. I won't order anymore of these cloches. I also have several cloches that I want to decorate myself so don't need any more. Like you, I wonder where I'll use all this 'stuff'. We're not right, you know. LOL

LOL, I agree. I was thinking earlier what fun it would be to meet up at one of the Q outlets (I am nowhere near one and probably never will be!) and be able to share in person all the excitement of the bargains we find. @J9 could show us the way to all the real deals. ;-)

@SHOPR Wouldn't that be a blast? We talk on here for so many years , have fun and share tips and experiences. To descend on a Q outlet would be something no one would ever forget, especially people at the outlet. LOL I'm in Missouri so nowhere near an outlet either. Yes, @J9 has found some good deals at the outlet.

No one has to accept the flaws, as defective items can be returned and all mailing costs refunded. I have sent back a few "as is" due to defects, and the next shipment was fine.

I have had pretty good luck with as is items. Like Mousiegirl says, if you receive an as is item that is defective, you can ask for the full amount to be refunded, plus not be charged for return shipping. I also agree with Shopr, that the savings on as is items seems to be shrinking.

Yes Mousiegirl. I received them at the end of last week, and finally opened them a few days ago. I have not put batteries in them yet, and tested the timers. I love them. I love them so much, that I ordered some as is of the same design, today for my DIL. I sure hope she loves them as much as I do. I think they are beautiful, and they probably look even more beautiful when lit.

The light grey color is growing on me, and I may even consider them. What do you think of the light grey? There are some really good reviews of the grey.

I keep telling DH this re his clothes, but unless I steal something without him knowing, nothing leaves, so I have become a clothes thief.

@mousiegirl Your DH is my kind of guy. I have a thing about getting rid of clothes too. But, honestly, I am overrun with clothes too. I can only wear so many. Every year I get a new sequined dress, jacket or scarf for holiday events but never dispose of any of them. I told myself this is the year to do that. We'll see. :-)
