Anyone going to do or go to a Memorial Day picnic?

I was thinking of having my brother's family and my daughter and her family over for a picnic.

Fourth of July is just too hot for me outside.

It sounds like fun but we usually don't do anything on Memorial Day. In fact it seems like it usually rains here for any local parades.

yes going home (Nj/Pa) for a big family picnic now that my niece is married we are all excited to view her wedding pics and enjoy hearing about their beautiful honeymoon. Plus, will be nice to enjoy our new family (husbands) in a fun relaxed day!

We'll be having our son, my sister and future Bil here to cook out. We usually do the three summer holidays, as we have a large deck with half of it covered. If it's too cold to sit outside, we'll just cook on the grill and eat inside. Last Memorial day was far warmer than the 4th! This year, who knows? My dear DIL being a nurse has to work all week-ends most of the year and of course I am off on the week-ends. So when any Monday holiday comes she and I start planning way ahead so we will all be together. It is nice to have Sat. visits with my son and granddaughter but we do miss her. So we will all be off work that Monday and my son will cook for us at their home.

They will have some sort of holiday event at the campground where we stay. Probably a pot luck picnic. We have a guy who is a DJ who camps there and usually we have oldies music for these type events, and if the weather is good they are held by the pool.

No, summer holidays are spent at home as summer visitor traffic in my area is horrendous. I might have house guests over the Independence Day weekend which would be nice.

How nice! I'm having family, friends and neighbours over for a cook out. DH is grilling. Everyone brings a dish to pass and we have fun. We have a small lake across the street so some go fishing. After Memorial Day it gets too warm for me too. That's when I hole up in the AC with a cool drink and do crafts for the holidays. Have fun!

Weather is too unpredictable in the PNW for a cook out this time of year. Everytime I plan one it rains! It is raining out this morning.

Just don't forget the true meaning of the day. Remembering our soldiers who died while serving our country!!!! It's not all about picnics and cook outs. Their families sure wish they could have cookouts and picnics with these fallen soldiers.

Absolutely! It is a day of remembering and honoring all those who paid the ultimate price. I also think of those who are still with us and served. Thank you for reminding us!

I was going to go to a backyard bbq today and to the beach tomorrow. That was a few days ago when the prediction was hot and sunny. But it changed everyday and now we have a cool drab dark day today and a rainy washout for tomorrow. Maybe next week will be better.

I actually went to a picnic yesterday, and it was totally fun! Our family doesn't really "do" picnics, so this was special, and totally worth it.

Today is cemetery day.
