What color/type of lights do you like on your Christmas tree/s?

I like to put both white and colored lights on the tree together. For our 6' Vickerman tree I put 2 sets of the Vickerman 100 bulb white 'random' twinkle (every 5th bulb flickers). Then I put on 2 sets of 100 of the colored lights.

For the new BL flocked tree, although it has a set of clear/white lights, I wanted to add more so there was colored lights and twinkle/flicker. I initionally was searching online for a set of 50 white/clear random twinkle and a set of 50 of the colored lights, but I think I may have gotten lucky with a set I found and can't wait to get!

It's a set of 100 bulb lights that have a 'random' twinkle...AND with 6 colors and clear I just found on EBay. They are a bit on the expensive side, but for a 4' tree, I didn't want to have to hide any extra cord. I wanted to add colored lights and some twinkle too...so I ordered 2 sets (one for a spare). So with one set of 100 lights I can add twinkle and color to the tree...LOVE!!!

I put white lights on our tree. I like the way they shine off the colored ornaments we put on our tree. Simple, but, traditional.

I use colored. They look better than white with the ornaments I have. Gives my tree more of a warm glow. I have used both, and prefer the colored.

I do like white though, have used them many times over the years with other ornaments.

I love white lights on our tree, but my family loves colored lights. However, I feel like the colored lights don't go with most of the ornaments I put on the tree.

We have a bit of a compromise - The tree gets white and the outdoor lights are colored.

It Really depends on the tree. On trees with space between the branches I like coloured lights. On a very full tree I like white lights. I got an artificial tree a couple of years ago with lights that have a clear and a coloured light option. I prefer the white. The Lights are LED and SO much brighter than the oldfashioned lights. Light but no warmth to the look. Lends itself well to an icicle and white theme but still, I miss that old fashioned Christmas warm glow. Got some of the Luminara tealight balls so maybe they'll add a bit of warmth to the tree.

I like white lights on 3 of my trees. I also bought a set of the random twinkle ones, I think they are GE......and I love those! I am hoping to get another set to add to my tree this year....

Last year, it was multi colored mini lights. All white the previous year. I've often put on 500 white lights with 200 gold lights; you don't really notice they are gold, but it warms the glow from the tree.

I use the plain white mini lights, not those overly bright ones. Used to use a lot outside too, but not lately.

We used multi colored lights for years but switched to white about seven or eight years ago. I like the white better with the ornaments and trim that we use.

I like white on the tree with the ornaments and such. I have white lights that we put on our two big holly trees out front. I don't mind colored lights outside, but I don't care for all blue or all red lights though.

@Zsazsa Glad you like the idea! PLEASE post after you decorate the tree for the holidays and let me know how you like it.

You can also try this...

After you put on the colored light set, just plug that set in and stand back and look at the tree. Then connect both the BL clear lights with the colored lights...hopefully you will see a 'wow' factor

I don't 'put' lights on a tree anymore, and will never go back from pre lit trees.

I have white right now, because these color changing trees are so new. But next tree I invest in, I want to have both the white and the colored, and if they get the choice to have both on at once, that would be the ultimate.

In my living room, I have white because that tree is very elegant now. The tree in the family room I like to do with my multiple sets of Thomas Paconni ornaments, so colored lights really would be better there.

I can't wait to have a tree that I can choose the lights based on my most recent mood or change of ornaments!

I love colored lights for my main tree....it's what I grew up with and gives me that "Christmas feel". Recently, I bought a set of 3 rustic Vickerman trees (pic below) that will be used in my bedroom that have white lights. I figured they can stay up all winter, which will be nice once the real tree goes down. Can't wait the "forest" in my bedroom

@Mominohio I keep waiting for a pre-lit tree to be presented on the Q which has the option of white and colored lights that are lit at the same time together ...

I'm sure there are folks that wouldn't like or use that option, but I think others would. I'd like to think I'm not the only one who puts white and colored lights together on a tree and has them lit at the same time...LOL

The BL flocked tree is the 1st tree I ever had with lights already on it. I like trees without prelit more because it allows me the options I like and can switch them out if I want to. I don't mind the extra work of putting them on and taking them off.

As for the BL flocked tree, once I put the colored lights on, they will remain on because it's a tree I can easily blow off the next year with the lights on it. I can't do that with our 6' tree since I have to bring it up and downstairs from/to the basement in sections.

Before I got a pre-lit tree I always bought GE I think they are the best, the bulbs are well made and last a long time---good quality!

I'm a multi-colored light gal! But thanks to technoogy I have a tree where you can change from multi to white......so once in a while I do change to white lights depending on my mood---I get the best of both worlds!

P.S. It's not a QVC tree, I got it at Home Depot (its a Martha Stewart tree)

@AuntG, That is such a great idea, using gold with white. I haven't shopped for light strands in so many years that I don't think I've seen gold strands. Are they the regular incandescent mini-lights, or are they LED?
