Slatkin TSV pricing....really?

Just took a look at the price today of yesterday's Slatkin TSV, and it is now a whopping $1.38 more that yesterday.

Now, I am of the camp that a dollar saved is a dollar saved, and don't scoff at that, but TSV's used to be really good deals.

So often now, the price after TSV day is only a bit more. All that hype, and all that 'for one day only, will we have this price'!

So for those that missed it, or want to order more, it is almost as cheap as yesterday!

@Mominohio, I was shocked when I also noticed that the one day only houses are only $3.00 more today.

I then realized that the reason for the tiny increase is because they are now at CIJ Sale prices, and the prices will go up a bit more after 7/31.

I noticed that too, about the 'sale price', probably for the rest of the month.

But remember when TSV pricing was really something special? Doesn't happen much anymore.

I am glad that many people will wake up today, and wish they had ordered more or another set etc. and won't have to feel bad about what they will pay to get them though!

When David ended the last presentation last night, they hadn't come close to 100,000 TSVs sold. I think they were in the mid 70,000's somewhere. I really expected to see this one sell way over 100,000, as people were really excited to see him back.

In my opinion, it says they priced it too high. If they had kept the shipping free or even kept the $3 shipping but had the price at $24.99, it might have made a big difference in selling up over 100,000.

Push, push, push ... sell, sell, sell. These TSVs and OTO are just a way of making you think "OMG if I don't get it I will pay more later and I will have lost out. I NEED to get it NOW."

Hey, can't blame them for trying to pick up another million $$ on top of yesterday's sales!

As I watched - one minute the size of the candles looked large (camera angle) and the next shot.....Harry's hand completely covered it. Wondering if buyers are going to shocked how small they are.

@Mominohio, Let us hope that we aren't bombarded with additional presentations of this storybook TSV for the rest of the year during decor shows, the way QVC has been shoving the gift bags TSV down our throats at every opportunity. Enough is enough of any product, whether I like the product or not.

I just wish the TSV candles would have been larger and the Gingerbread house a little smaller. I wound up purchasing the Santa Canister and a set of the 3 wick candles.

1 - QVC is milking certain items for all they are worth...like the gift bags. Where is Rick when we need him?

2 - QVC is maybe starting to listen to the customer. I noticed nothing sold out during VPH shows. I don't know if it's because QVC is buying larger quantities, or less folks are buying in Valerie's shows lately...hard to tell I guess. On one hand QVC won't post new items til just before the shows so they don't sell out, and yet they haven't sold out recently during this month. I can only guess they brought in larger quanties of a lot of the decor...not all of coarse, so Valerie can show the products during shows down the road in Sept, Oct, and Nov.

Then when I hear the quantities of the TSV sold yesterday, it's pretty off the charts. I remember when TSV's would sell 100,000 - 150,000+ on rare occassions. Now it seems like QVC feels that isn't enough...so now they are pushing 200,000+...and if they don't sell all on the TSV day, we will see endless presentations of them until inventory is gone or near gone then off to Zulily...LOL

I suspect it's the way I shop, but once I see something I want and think it's a price I can manage, I just don't follow it any longer.

As for the value of past TSV's - obviously you couldn't prove it by me because I have absolutely no idea. I do know that I don't agree nearly as much as some do that QVC was a far better value in the past. Maybe it's because I've learned far better how to shop long distance, but I returned far more in the past than I do now. Ordered Joan Rivers jewelry and returned it, ordered Judith Ripka and returned it, ordered Citiknits and returned them - and I'm sure there's more.

The best values I got as far as I'm concerned came from QVC's gold offerings. They let me build my basic gold wardrobe, but even there I think sometimes nostalgia overtakes reality.

Almost ridiculous isn't it? And, it is kind of like why bother at all with a so called TSV anymore in a lot of cases - really not that big of a deal like they make it out to be now is it? And, they spend hours going on about it like it is the best deal everrrrrrrr... got to give 'em credit for trying I suppose... (or not...).

I was watching David present them last night, and honestly, they should not have let him hold the product. I love David, but his hands are huge, and they made those votives look so much smaller than when the ladies earlier in the day were showing them!

Yeah, depending on the price point and the item, if you don't move 100,000 units of a TSV it is a 'flop' for many things.

I really thought as popular as he was/is here, they would top that mark by early evening.

way overpriced and I do like Harry Slatkin. My small hand would have hidden them.

Jill was good to put them in perspective size-wise of a shot glass.

Regarding the size:

I pulled my votives from Walmart and Diptyque: it appears that a "standard" votive is 2ozs or a tad larger. That said, Diptyque makes what they call "baby candles"; VERY small votive candles that are sold in sets during the holidays or offered in high end GWP's; they are the EXACT same size as Harry's TSV and yes, a shot glass is exactly the size.

Are they overpriced? Depends on what you consider expensive and if you think it's "worth" the money; Diptyque sells a sampler at Christmas for $160 for 10 of these shot size votives and it sells out quickly each year. The quality of their product is excellent. If Harry's product is considered a true competitor (based on what he's saying) then the price of his TSV is a great deal.

I agree with many that there are going to be some very surprised people when they open it up and see the sizes; I don't recall that being stressed during the earlier shows (and I missed it when he was on with Jill). I also agree (and have commented on this more than once) that the "savings" on TSV's is a JOKE. A few dollars off and STILL paying S&H is NOT a deal no matter how you spin it.

All that said, as long as keep buying, QVC will continue the practice.

Okay, I might get screamed at here but, in one way I am glad to see Harry back...I missed his candles, but by the same token I cannot watch him. I cannot take his yelling and his constant references to "couture" and "high end designers" etc etc(we get it, Harry)...his mannerisms, and his basic ego.

I bought one of the storybooks and the gingerbread house, only because I have a sweet grandson and I know he would be mezmerized by it..and it's cute! I just hope it doesn't get too hot.

I was going to buy the gingerbread tart warmer, but I was really stunned when it did not come with any wax tarts...but you could buy them for an additional $16 or so. Not good.

Hello All! I havent posted in awhile. But I do appreciate everything all the posters do to keep us informed, and the forums going! With that said I had to chime in. Okay I too love the Slatkin candles but the TVS candles are very small and I have to agree overpriced for what you got. And you said it all all with the dollar and change price difference today - WOW!! I see many bad reviews and returns coming. A few years ago BBW had these tiny mason jar candles (you can google them) when the TSV aired, I picked one up to compare its size to the BBW tiny candle which is 1.6 oz (I guess comparable to a shot) and those are sooo tiny, so at 1oz sadly a deal breaker! I know its a sampler but I heard a lot of "If you burn them all at once it fills the room" why not just make them bigger and like others stated a better TSV price!

Does anyone remeber when BBW sold the Slatkin candles in the 2oz plastic containers? I have several of those I havent burned they still smell great when I open my apothecary jar I store them in. Even those would have been a better deal!

I looked at this TSV as a potential Christmas gift for someone, but the tiny size also put me off. I kept looking at them and thinking they were miniatures and wondered how long any of them would burn. I was afraid my friend would think they were just a cheap gift! The tin didn't make up for the too small size of the candles.

LOL - I agree with some who said David shouldn't have held them! To me, it made them look like something you'd have in a child's teaset.
