Displaying Christmas cards

I used to always display my Christmas cards by putting them on a glass mirror on my buffet but this year I decided instead to place them in a basket. I love having a much simpler look to the buffet. All those colorful cards were rather messy & busy looking. Do you display your cards?

I just put them in a wicker basket and hot glued 2 small ribbon bows to it so it looked Christmassy.

I have a metal Christmas card display hanger that I use to display my cards....my relatives and friends chose some very pretty cards and this allows me to fully see the cards and remember the people that were thoughtful enough to send me a card...

we have louvered doors that go from our hallway into our family room. they are usually open. i hang the cards on those doors so that people can see them when they come into the house via the front hallway.

this is not my photo, but this is pretty much what we do......

I used to put them on the mantel. Not sure what I'll do with them this year as my mantel is pretty full. I don't get that many anymore anyway. :/

I put them in a red wall basket that I've decorated. It's not so much to display them, but I like to look at them again after the holidays and needed somewhere to put them.

I usually hang a santa on the door going out to our garage and tape them up around him. I plan one of these years to take a piece of ribbion or string and hang them up. I want to get the litte clothes pins and decorate them. I will hang them going from our dining room to the family.

My grandparents used to hang a piece of string diagonally across the living room and hang the cards on it. Since they lived in an apartment and had low ceilings and my brothers are all between 6'5" and 6'8" it was sometimes an issue.

@Desertdi I was just going to say, who gets cards anymore? I get one from a friend who's an artist and always put her painting on a card. That's about it. I guess we know young people who email everything.

that is such a great idea....never thought of that....have just put them in a pile the last couple years instead of hanging...but do have a louver door in the hallway i can

use....thanks for the display!

We really don't get many cards and I don't send out many. A good week ago we got our first card so I sat at the desk and sent a few out. The next day I sent out a few more. When we get cards, we read them but we don't keep them around.

I have a wrought iron railing in my foyer. I've strung micro lights across the top of the railing and am hanging the cards on the upright posts with double-side tape.

Growing up my mother would hang the Christmas cards in the kitchen on the china closet or on the woodwork. This is back in the 50's & 60's and I do the same thing. I hang them with clear tape in arch ways or doorways in the kitchen and living area. It's festive; however, my mother would receive about 200 cards and I probably receive about 20. Less and less people send them out but I find it a very nice tradition to do once a year.

We don't get many cards anymore. I sent out about 20 last year and I think I got maybe three in return!

I have saved cards from special loved ones in the past, and I bring those out every year, and put them in a basket or a wooden bowl, and set them out somewhere. I love to look through that old stack of cards, many from people who are not longer with us.

Up until last year I covered a door with green foil wrapping paper and used red velvet ribbon to make it look like a giant present. I taped the cards all over the door. There were years I didn't have enough space for all the cards. Over the years, there were fewer and fewer. Now I have a snowman on a covered spring with a basket attached. It is called a card basket so that's what I now use it for.
