SPRING FINDS

I hit Hobby Lobby yesterday, browsing their spring selection, among other things.

Love these little canvases. One would look great tucked in a bookcase--

To give you an idea of their actual size, here's the "My Take on Home and Garden" guy holding the adorable little chick:

Nice selection of 'moody art' too--

Their "bows" collection of ceramics includes pitchers, plates, all kinds of items. Here's the sweet lidded sugar bowl, which could have a variety of uses:

I was pleased to see they brought back their popular oversize monogrammed teacups this year, in even more patterns. These are the dupes for the famous Anthropologie ones.

Sadly, they don't seem to have the new patterns up on the site yet. So these are last year's. The new patterns are even better! Depending on the letter used, they have different blue, green, blush shades, so pretty.

I gave one from last year as a gift at Christmas, and what a hit it was-- she loves it and uses it constantly.

You treat them like mugs, no need for a saucer. BUT, this year HL has made darling little matching appetizer plates to go with. I scoured the site to find pix, but they are apparently not up yet, rats.

And speaking of cups and mugs--

This one below is back from last year. I love that it identifies the shapes of the leaves of various trees-- a "science" mug!

Lovely canisters and pitchers--

This is a mixing bowl, but wouldn't it also make a handsome fruit bowl on the kitchen counter?

This checkered acacia wood cutting board was a standout to me. It is heavy and substantial-- looks like a million bucks in the "large" size.

Pastel jars, yes!

The range of different vases, is nice. And a lot of the prices hover around $11- $15, which is easy on the pocketbook.

The Tulip vase looked great with a spring bouquet in it.

This one's been around for awhile, but looks so charming in spring--

For ginger jar lovers, this stylish quatrefoil pierced one looks so airy. Perennial designer look, for little money. Also would be great with a small flameless candle in it.

Similar quatrefoil motif, but more "hefty", for spring branches maybe. Is twelve inches high.

For a midcentury or modern preference, I really liked this two-toned look--

And my favorite "ombre" planter really looks good in person--

For a few dollars, these tiny blue birds herald spring and look sweet anywhere--

This little bud vase in the shape of a flower is so simple, but surprisingly impactful. Another designer look for a song--

I didn't even really have time to cruise their faux florals properly! (They do still have my favorite, the cosmos.) You know how it is when you get in there-- too much to see...

Some of those are so adorable. However, I won't buy ceramics from HL. They're so thin and break very easily.

Some really cute things.

I was at Hobby Lobby a few days ago and picked up some outdoor decor items. They had a nice selection and everything was 40% off.

why shop at QVC, when hobby lobby and home goods are just a few miles away? With better quality and prices!!!

@Oznell - Thank you for posting all the pictures. I have seen some of the items at HL. I had the mini canvas pictures in my cart a couple times but put them back. I felt like there should be a third picture. You know, buy in threes. I will probably stop by the store again tomorrow.

@Tori3569 , I'm sorry you've had that experience. The ceramic pieces I've gotten from there--so far-- have been sturdy. I have several of the initial teacups, and throw them into the dishwasher and microwave, and they're still pristine. They're thick and substantial though. I've had a few other ceramic pieces from there, and they're the same. Maybe they're improving?

@Sakuya , I thought I there was a third coordinating canvas to go with the chick and the lamb, and voila-- the cute bunnies. But it's possible not all stores have all three--

Agreed, @baileyone , in a lot of cases. Sometimes, I can find just the right thing at the Q, and am relieved not to have to run all around town to find it! But usually wait for a free ship day. There are trade-offs in both cases, for sure.

I looked up the Bunny and Lamb canvas on line at Hobby Lobby, they are sold out on line. I may check out the store but I'll bet they are sold out as well the closer we get to Easter.
