Fossil bags

I seem to feel that the more I spend on a bag the better the bag. I found a Fossil bag (Sydney) that I really like and it's only $128.00. Normally I'm a Brahmin or Dooney girl. I seem to have fallen into the trap that I feel I need to spend between $200-300 for a decent bag. What do you think?

If you like the leather and the design of the Fossil bag, go for it @Meowingkitty!!! That's a huge cost savings!

I don't like to spend a lot on my bags. I've had two Fossil bags that I love. One of them I literally wore out and would still be using it today, but......well, like I said, I just wore the poor thing out. I have the Sydney and love it. To me, it's just a classic look, and they are very well made. Everyone has different tastes, though, and I don't own a really pricey bag.

Buy what really appeals to you..

My experience with Fossil may have been unusual but I won't be buying another. I got a beautiful turquoise bag with a flap over the top. I'm retired and only go out a couple times a week which is not hard wear. When not in use, I hung it on a hook on an interior door about 15ft from a window. I noticed after a couple month that the whole exterior of the bag had changed to a different color, a faded out green, except under the flap where it was the original color. I'd never heard of this happening.

Fossil makes some good bags. I don't think one has to rely only on certain brands or spend a certain amount of money to get a great bag. There are all sorts of brands out there. I try not to get locked in only to the brands we hear the most about. To do so closes too many doors and means we miss opportunities. I'd consider giving the Fossil a try if you like it.

I prefer to own fewer quality handbags than to have a closet full of cheaper bags, but $200 is my limit for any bag, period. The only bags I own are Brahmin, Tignanello, Dooney, Vera Bradley, Michael Kors, Fossil, and a special Aigner. I absolutely love carrying my leather Fossil bags, and see them as a better quality of bag than my Dooneys. I don't think you can go wrong with a Fossil.

I like Fossil handbags and have given my daughter a few of their crossbody bags as their straps wear very well.

The finish of the bag can get distressed looking on the luggage tan ones though and my daughter had the color of her denim jeans rub off on some of her bags over time. I see Fossil at Winners in Canada as well as Hudson's Bay in Canada. I'm sure that you can find good prices in the U.S. for Fossil bags.

I just picked up a gorgeous Fossil bag in Canada over the weekend. I got an Emmerson satchel -- it was slightly more than I would usually spend but the minute I saw it I knew I had to have it.

I had a Fossil bag many years ago and loved it.

Fossil makes a quality bag for the money but the leather is not top end (don't get me wrong, it's nice!) and the treatment to make the leather and dye it isn't top end as well. But high end prices do not necessarily guarantee high end leathers or manufacturing.

Making leather is an extremely expensive endeavor, even before dyeing it, which is another expensive procedure (whether to drum dye or not, etc.) Buying leather handbags from manufacturers you absolutely trust is imperative. But generally the less expensive the leather brand the less they've done to ensure the quality of the leather.

I love leather bags and coats. I bought a Denim & Co. Moto jacket in black lamb leather last year and wore it one season I just got it out for this year and discovered that the black dye around the top of the collar has actually rubbed off! It cost about $170 and I knew when I purchased it that it wasn't high end.... but I also didn't expect the leather dye to not be secure!! Now I know..... with all that means.....

I love the look of some fossil bags. I just got one on sale(Vickery shoulder bag), but haven't used it yet, and it is white and gray. I just was taken with the whole appearance. Can't wait to see how well it wears after some of the negative comments about their quality.

I just bought a Fossil Sydney last week, after discounts and coupons at Younkers, it cost me $88.00, and was just the Cabernet color I was looking for. I have a couple other Fossil bags and am very satisfied with the quality. Here's the Sydney:

@MaggieMack Love that color and that bag. I went to the mall yesterday, and checked out that merlot color. It is beautiful! Nothing says fall to me more than cabernet or merlot colored real leather !

Have worn Fossil bags for many years. For me they hold up well, and I enjoy the casual style.

I love Fossil bags and have several in my collection. I think the leather is nice and my have held up beautifully. I too love Dooney but if you can find a deal on a good Fossil bag, go for it.

I still have the first real leather handbag I bought, it is a Fossil. The most I ever spent on a handbag back then. It is as good as the day I bought it.

I bought myself a Fossil Sydney handbag in the purple print pattern from Winners. It's not all leather, only the trim like the straps are leather but I thought the print is quite nice and it was $79 CDN.

I've also bought my daughter a Sydney crossbody bag in the brown print. This will be a gift. This was $69 CDN at Winners too.

OMG! I could kick myself for staying away from Fossil for all these years. Yesterday, I was at Tyson's Corner in Virginia and I haven't been over there I think in about 20 years, lol. I walked into the Fossil store and I was immediately attracted to the best looking cross body bag I ever saw in my life!! I had to have it. It's the Preston Flap crossbody bag. I ended up buying that beauty. I was impressed so much with this bag, I ordered the larger version of it to wear as a shoulder bag. The leather was so soft and the quality of the Fossil bags have really changed for the better. Their bags can easily compete with Dooney, Coach, Kors or anybody else out there with no problems. I think the Fossil company has come a long way to compete with anybody that's how good their quality and leather goods are. I will concentrate more now on Fossil then I will on Dooney and Bourke.
