Outlet mall...not really many bargains.

Went to outlet mall and went to Fossil. I asked the clerk if there were any other discounts because I could buy same purse online cheaper. He said that was not true and then looked it up and said it was 10.00 cheaper online. He then said I would have to pay shipping. I said not true. Then on to old navy and jeans same price as online so I will wait for a 40% off online. Then went to fragrance outlet and the cologne was same as ulta. I do like the Van Huesen store for women and cannot get that online and also Dooney is cheaper.

It's like with any shopping. You really do need to look around at the many options to get the best deal. Or wait until the next good sale. Shopping is sometimes about impulse, but sometimes about study.

Many years ago outlet malls were great, today, not so much.

Could be certain brand outlets morphed into something other than what they started out being. They came, they offered good prices, they hooked a lot of shoppers in and then, once they found their niche, the deals went out the door.

The Coach store at my local oputlet is a joke. Only one or two leather bags.....all the others cloth or?. The salespeople all liked my silver leather one. Too bad they had NOTHING even close to it in their store.

Most Coach bags at the outlets are made for the outlet and look cheap--there are a few exceptions. They used to have a section in the far back that were styles that didn't sell well in the stores. Most of them were duds. I used to buy Coach at the regular retail stores, but their bags, for the most part, are too stale for me. I'm into Kate Spade bags or Patricia Nash bags--I've been carrying my LV for 4 or 5 months and LOVE it.

As with any shopping, you need to do your homework and not buy impulsively. That's what outlet malls are hoping- that we don't know our stuff!

When i go to outlet malls I visit select stores- the ones I know are deals, that send me coupons, etc. Like Vera Bradley. But now even Vera is starting to make 'outlet only' items! Good thing I'm 'vera'd out' !!!

Yup, outlet malls are hit and miss and you have to do your homework to see if you are getting a bargain or not. I'm visiting Las Vegas again this summer so I will take a look most likely at the south premium outlet mall. I basically look at shoes there but will go and look at the Coach and Michael Kors outlet stores.

I go to two Outlet Malls, in the Portland, OR area. At both, the Coach stores, are quite large, and very nice. I always see plenty of leather bags.

What I miss seeing, are the great discounts and selection of clearance items. As recently, as a couple years ago, you could find terrific prices, and they always seemed to have a nice selection of bags and wallets, that were retail transfers.

Now their clearance selection, seems much more limited, and, the retail transfers, if they have any, are even more limited.

I wonder if the on line sales, they now have, has impacted the selection

of merchandise going to the Outlets? I still have fun looking, but, more often than not, no buying. My best Coach buys, recently, have been scored, by waiting for the occasional sales, at the retail stores.

I was told the outlet stores are not as they were years ago! I do better at the retail store with incentive coupons, sales, etc.

I learned from the clerk in both Carters & Bath and Body works same pricing as retail store but do honor coupons.

I like Vera Bradley outlet - this weekend it was 50%+25% off I got a backpack for under $50.

Used to love Coach & Dooney store no big discounts anymore.

My closest outlet mall has a Saks Fifth Avenue/Off Fifth outlet that carries Coach bags. The quality is so much better than the bags at the Coach Outlet. I agree that the Coach Outlet bags aren't as good as the ones at the stores, but I do like to go to the outlet to look for scarves.

I love the Van Huensen store for women! I got great deals on some skirts. I also agree with you that the outlet malls are not that cheap. In my opinion, a lot of the the stores are expensive. I also shop Leggs, Hanes, Bali. The prices are the same as their outlet catalog. I went to the Coach store, and the prices were still outside of my budget. The discounts were not deep enough for me.
