Made Claire, are these junky?

I'm watching a show with these bags. Are they junky? They say they are leather but they look like plastic.

Yes and no....they are leather and some of them do look plastic but they are not.

They are heavy, in my opinion.

I'm sure with this kind of question, you will get a lot of opinions. I bought one and returned.

It depends on the specific bag. I've got a couple I really like, but others of them looked pretty blingy and not at all to my taste. The basic 'tooled' designs aren't bad, but too often they seem to then take their designs to extremes. I seem to remember that not all of them are all leather, but some, I think, have man-made components, but I could be wrong.

Not sure about all their purses, but I bought a purse from them in 2014 and I'm still using it. It turned out to fit what I was looking for - not huge but plenty of room for my stuff, real leather, comfortable & not heavy. It was the "Linda" Reptile Embossed & Pebbled Leather Cross Body Bag.

They are partially leather and artificial leather. The lady that brings them has mentioned it before. The part that looks like aligator is the real part. The straps and bottoms on most are the artificial leather. I've owned two but they are a little stiff and awkward to use (just the ones I bought). They are kind of cute but I sent mine off to the consignment shop. I won't buy any more of them.

Most that I've seen seem to be leather bonded to cardboard, so yes, they are pretty junky. It's too bad they're not better quality because the basic designs and colors are nice. They're overpriced for what they are. They should be about $40.

Hmm... if you like high quality bags, you will think them junk. It is impossible to get really high quality bags at low retail prices.

If you are on a budget and tend to get your bags from Kmart and Walmart, they are a step up. Try to get them on sale, if possible. One shouldn't pay more than 50 dollars tops.

I bought one last year----it looked pretty enough, but it was heavy and stiff---didn't feel like leather at all---more like cheap plastic. I donated it to the Salvation Army shop. Won't buy another one.

It appears that Madi Claire is trying new designs and more leather. I bought a Madi Claire bag about two years ago. I agree with a lot of the comments on this thread. I didn't love the bag but I didn't hate it either. I do think it was a very fair price that I paid for the bag. Some customers just cannot or do not want to pay the prices of Dooneys, Oryanys , Aimee Kestenbergs, Isaac Mizrahis or other high-price bags. It is a way to get a (mostly) leather bag for a decent price. Look around at them; some of the deigns are nice and they are trying more colors. It used to be the color selection was quite limited. Like I mentioned, I think they are changing things up more recently.

I bought one for my daughter several years ago, it was leather, and she loved it and still has it and it has held up nicely.....I like some of their designs not all of them though.

I have a floral one that is really nice, no issues. I did purchase a cross body that would flip I donated that one. I have a couple I have been using off and on for a couple of years. They are comfortable bags and I do not find them to be heavy (but I never had a heavy bag unti I purchased a Dooney) This is not a negative against Dooney, I know the leather in the dooney bags will last forever LOL, But like another poster stated it depends on the style of the bag. I have one that the handles have cracks, but the other two are fine. I think they are reasonably priced. I have 3 but I do not plan on purchasing more. I do get compliments on them. The floral is my favorite, great summer bag I get compliments on it a lot. If you do purchase one enjoy

I have a small crossbody. Like many others I don't love it or hate it. It serves a purpose. It has lasted for many years though - probably 6 or 7.

I will say that regardless of brand, for most bags sold on home shopping channels, the true deals are far and few between. I seem to often do better shopping locally, both in terms of selection and price. Home shopping only make sense for me when EP is a factor, when a bag is only sold by them or when only they offer the color one wants.

@stevieb so true. I find that to be true especially with handbags and jewelry. I have found great deals at TJMaxx,Dillards, Macy's from Coach and Vince Camuto handbags to John Hardy jewelry. Even shopping on line at local stores, the saving is much less. I know how to find a bargain.

I have 2 of them. And I think junky fits. The leather is very stiff and firm and I have an awful time trying to move the straps between shoulder and cross body. The zippers stick too. The organization is good but it would take forever to make them soft and pliable. The ones I have are the shiny croc style. I won't buy again and will prob donate them.
