Let us build our own Dooney bag....

Wouldn't it be great if Dooney would give us a range of sizes including depth (hate it when a purse sticks out too far from the body), types of leather, or coated cotton or nylon, range of strap lengths, types of handles and color....and definitely a leather key keeper instead of those made of nylon. Might take a year to complete but worth the wait to get what we really wanted. We also get to choose what type of accessories we want.

Just like when Denim & Co used to offer custom order blue jeans.

The only problem with it maybe taking a year I would have either forgotten about it or changed my mind and not want it anymore.

Dooney loses many sales because the bags often don't have outside pockets and few organizational features. Peter Dooney obviously doesn't use a handbag.

Boy, that is my dream..................I've purchased several D&B bags only to find them too heavy or too big or the opening too small or too many horse leather straps and buckles or too stiff. I've dumped 3 or 4 and have only one now that I'm certainly not in love with. Kiss $2,000 away.

I dream to design my own bag but it won't happen in this life time!

Yes, an outside pocket is a must! Feet are a must as well. Believe it or not Dooney has made bags fairly recent that did not have feet and they definitely should have. I bought a bag exactly like a266601 but my version did not have feet on the bottom. When I take it shopping yes I have to put it down to get out my payment. When I get in the car I wipe down the bottom if I think of it with a wet nap, if I should have some on hand.

@foundinlv, Most definitely, if you're going to spend that much for a bag, it should have feet at the very minimum.

I will tell you what: crossbody and shoulder straps are often not wide enough to properly to distribute the weight of the bag. That is the reason that straps can dig into the shoulder. It doesn't matter if it is Dooney, Coach, or whomever. And it may not be that someone already has back and shoulder problems.

Most of my bag collection is Coach and the reason is the wider shoulder straps. They really make a difference. The width/depth of a bag: sometimes the bag is made that way for a reason. Bucket bags jut out. Doctor bags are not slim. Dooney makes all shapes and sizes. I really have to stop and think about what it is you like/need before purchasing. If buckets or satchels haven't worked in the past, then I don't care how much money you plunk down they're still not going to work for you.

The reasons that I've only purchased one D&B bag are: the size, too big for the most part and --most important to me -- the "black hole" of the inside. My favorite type of handbag is one with two zippered compartments or at least a zippered compartment in the middle. Both for security, especially wallet/credit cards and for organization. One big bucket means I can't find anything!

The weight's a little hefty, too. The one I bought is beautiful but I always put it back in the closet and go with one of my lighter weight ones.
