No not really. Not your taste, apparently, and that's fine. This style of strap, has been around for many years, and on many high end bags, some much more expensive, than Dooney.

I like it on some styles, but, generally, not my favorite.

Actually, I find it more irksome that they can't throw in free S&H for a $500 purse that probably weighs all of a couple pounds at most.

Aren't you the same poster who has started several threads about how much you just paid for your new car?

some people might think that amount of money for a car is too much. We are all adults and are capable of deciding what to spend our own money on.

I've never paid that kind of money for a bag from anywhere and I never will. To me, it's not worth it; unless the bag does all the paperwork I put in it. I know many women that don't carry a bag at all.

I prefer to spend the $$ elsewhere.

I only need something to carry things around so a purse isn't a fashion statement. For me it is absolutely insane but many things I will pay a high price for many will not. It's different for everybody so no need for anyone to put others down for what they buy and like!!

Posts about the costs of bags and what some are willing to spend seem to pop up with regularity and all too often also seem to be judging... At the end of the day, those who choose cheaper bags are free to do so but their perspective, no matter how many times stated, doesn't seem to influence those who prefer nicer bags... Personally, I wouldn't pay this price for a Dooney bag, but would for a bag I really loved.

This thread has nothing to do with what people pay for a purse - who gives a hoot what you are willing to pay!!!! It is about the lack of value in paying $500 for a purse that they could not even put a leather handle on. IT HAS A COTTON WEBBING STRAP. Seriously, don't you expect a leather handle on your $500 purse ? It is about getting or not getting value for your money.

Yes, I did and my new car is VALUE FOR THE MONEY. It isn't some cheap substitute for value and then they try to convince you it is a trend or it's beautiful - that strap RUINS an otherwise gorgeous purse.

Curiosity got the best of me so I checked out this bag.

Although not my stye, it is gorgeous and I assume well made. Is it worth $500.00 +++ shipping? Beats me.

But, without a doubt that strap looks and is cheap. Without it, it is beautiful. With it showing, it is not. It makes the bag look much cheaper. Pay $500.00 if you want on this bag, but don't use the strap. It looks CHEAP because it IS CHEAP.

It should cost more. The quality of the older and new Dooney florentine bags is amazing for the price. I have three if the newer Florentines. If you look at luxury bags, you see that these could cost three times that amount. Dooneys are a bargain in the handbag world.

Value is relative. I get the same comments when I carry my LV handbag. It's coated canvas, "you paid what"? , "it's not even leather". I love that bag and carry it a lot. No matter what you pay, if you get the use out of it and love it, then it was worth it for you.

The same goes for cars, you can get to point B from point A with a number of cars and more expensive does not always mean better, its what you like and whats a value to you.

I drive a Ford Mustang but could drive a more expensive car, if I wanted, its all about personal preference, taste, what you can afford and what makes you happy. Because something is not a value to me does not make it any less of a value to someone else.

I agree. Shipping is free from the Dooney site. So, if the same bag is at both QVC and Dooney direct for the same price, as is often the case, I have no choice but to buy direct.

You can't get those bags cheaper yet, but eventually good used ones or returns will show up on eBay! In the handbag world today, $500 us not considered a super - expensive bag. My mother lies her Chloe's these days, and I think the last one she bought was $1250 or so.
