Thanks for asking. Having a terrible time with my old knees! I need replacement but keep putting it off.

I've been in some really bad car accidents, add on arthritis and ..... well...old age and .......

I just don't like not being able to get up and go afterward. I know the healing process takes a long time. Ugh!

Getting old stinks. Ha! Rescued any little ones lately? You were amazing.....

I've known folks who've had knee replacements that said they felt great and couldn't believe they put it off for so long.

I have a monthly thread called Birds Nest in Among Friends that talks about my latest rescue Rocky I'm in the process of rehabbing. This one will be released :-)

I totally agree. Sounds like an old lady trying to be "cool". It's also too familiar for two business associates.

Personally, I think it is especially rude when Mally says it, and always have thought that. It is one of those things that is too personal for someone who isn't your mama. . . it is like someone saying that has the right to call another woman "mama" when she isn't her mama. It's just silly and presumptive that someone wants to be called "mama". Like calling some man "daddy." Really?

I just had my second knee replaced three weeks ago. It is SO worth it!!!!! I had the left knee replaced a year and a half ago and to be able to stand and walk without pain is a blessing!!!! I am 61 and so glad I had them done. Yes it hurts but so did every day before having them replaced. Great thing is every day after it feels a little better all the time!!

It really depends. On parenting forums it's extremely common for posters to use the term mama when conversing and no one takes offense to it. For example: Mama, I know you're doing your best right now, just hang in there. It's already been established that net speak has moved into normal conversation and this could be an example of that. There are also cultures where everyone is auntie or tia. I wouldn't say it's especially rude when someone slips into their common speech instead of their formal sales pitch. It happens. And QVC's whole concept is based on customers being family and feeling like you are talking to your neighbor.
