DOONEY & BOURKE LARGE FLORENTINE BARLOW

I have been looking at this bag for a while now, and I just can't make up my mind about it. I'm not a big purchaser of handbags. I don't own a ton. But this one seems to be calling my name. The measurements don't sound like it's huge, but some reviews I've seen have said this bag holds a ton! Is it a really huge bag?

Would anyone here that has this bag be willing to give me your opinion on it? Thanks in advance for opinions on this one.

I have the large Barlow in Ostrich. It is a large bag, but I wouldn't call it huge.

It doesn't appear that huge to me. The bottom width may be a touch wider than many other bags, but I am wearing one now with that measurement and it's not overly large at all. GORGEOUS bag. I would only be concerned if you want to keep valuables in it like a wallet since it does not have a zipper close. If you can keep your money and credit cards elsewhere in the bag where they will be secure, that would be best.

What color are you looking at?

I own MANY D&B bags and LOVE them all. I have never had one in the florentine leather. I'm more of a pebble leather girl. I like the way it looks and wears.

Did you check out the I LOVE DOONEY website? Check there first. They always have sales and you may find a bag that is similar.

@nyc1 I am looking at the natural. I have read that this Florentine leather does show scratches, which is a concern. I will definitely look at ILove Dooney. I have seen that they have better prices. Thanks for your advice on this bag.

In my eyes I think it's a huge bag. But then again I only carry small crossbodies. It looks heavy and bulky but that's just my opinion. I don't like the idea of not having a secure closure. If it falls over everyone falls out and it's a pickpockets dream.

I have a Barlow from D&B but not the large, so I looked up the size...looks like 10.25 x 12.5 so that's not huge to me, although it is larger than the one I have. What I'd comment on is the design of the Barlow and I love it! It's a beautifully styled bag, classy looking IMO. I don't have a requirement for a top zipper so that doesn't bother me. The bag has a strong magnetic closure and it's never popped open for me.

I have D&B pebble leather and smooth leather bags, but I also drool over the Florentine! I don't know how well it wears, but you might look at the other leather options for the Barlow on Dooney's website and also I Love Dooney to compare the leathers, colors available for the other ones and also sizes. Good luck - it's a beautiful, classy bag!

@jannabelle1 Thanks for your response. I, too, didn't think it seemed too big by looking at the measurements. But sometimes I can be wrong about these things. LOL

I will definitely look at the other leathers. I see that D&B is having a a sale right now, so that will certainly help.

I have always like the look of the large barlow, but when I saw it in person, it was huge.

I am 5'1" and it was way too big....it's a large tote.

The mini one is cute, and the small is nice...a better fit for me.

If you need a large tote that holds everything including the kitchen sink get the large. It weighs about 2.5 lbs empty.
