How is Coach coated canvas?

My one and only Coach is an ancient, black leather (heavy) bag that goes unused. I prefer a small satchel now.

Saw this summer bag and wondered about their coated canvas.

I have a few Dooney's and like the weight and whimsy of the summer prints.

Any thoughts?

That is a cute bag!

Dooney bags can also be very heavy. They last forever but I quit using them 20 years ago because of the weight. Canvas is lighter than their leather though. I think Dooney bags are heavier than most Coach bags.

I have been using Brahmin for the last 20 years. The first one I bought still looks like new. The leather is great and they don't weigh as much as a child. They also offer a variety of styles.

My favorite bag is the Brahmin Copa in Copper. I have it in the medium tote with all the matching pieces. It was a retirement present to myself.

While I love leather, even that one is a bit heavy at times.

I've got two larger Dooney's (one the Ant Picnic plaid and a black quilted bag), that now look gigantic to the Dooney Ruby satchels I now use.

That strawberry print is so cute, but I'm trying to resist as I am not going anywhere this summer but the grocery store

Their coated canvas is extremely durable and light weight, think you will love it.

I recently rediscovered Coach after many years of buying other bags including Brahmin and Dooney. Their coated canvas seems very nice. I'm a leather girl so I'm more inclined to buy leather. But I was tempted last weekend at Macy's when I saw the Cassie 19 bag on sale in both leather and coated canvas. I did get the leather. I like Brahmin but their bags seem to run huge (at least for me as I like smaller bags) and even though I like their colors I'm not brave enough to get out of my comfort zone and buy a multi colored or bright colored bag. Plus they keep making the same bags over and over again just in different colors. Dooney does run heavy so I gave them up years ago.

The ONLY Dooney I carry now are the Ruby style...which is tiny. The Bitsy was small, too, but I haven't seen that style in years.

I think it's just too small for many women, but I love it.

Would love to rehome my larger Dooney's, but they remain in my closest for now.

I'm a huge Coach fan. I've found their coated canvas, to be lighter weight, lovely, and durable. Very easy care, also.

I'm thinking Coach Retail, should have their semi annual sale coming up, maybe in July?

You can also check the Coach Outlet stores, or on line at

I have this bag in both burgundy and a soft pink. They are pretty heavy once you put your things in it but I do love them & I splurged many years ago when this design was first introduced.

Right now I'm carrying my "old standby" coach canvas bag which is about 10 years old and still wearing fine! @Witchy Woman

I am trying very hard to not go to outlet store which recently opened. My friends went and told me they had a 75% off sale (which I find hard to believe) yet one bought a really nice bag for $84.

Did not really "need" it, but I reminded myself of all the years I carried the same, inexpensive handbag to work.

Love that Coach outlet, but need to stay away from it!

It's the type of bag that brings a smile. Load that bag up and enjoy it. You have inspired me to go look at my collection to change up to happier look. Also looking online but the one I wanted sold out. We need some luxury at this time.

The strawberry bag arrived and it is perfect. About the size of a Dooney Ruby, and just makes you smile.

I bought the matching wallet and it is larger than expected. I likely should have gotten a smaller accessory. If I use it with the handbag, it will just fit and fill it up.

Have not unwrapped it yet, but all the matching strawberry pieces are now gone, so....I'll have to think about it for a couple of days.

Happy I treated myself to this one. A nice addition to my tiny collection of happy, whimsical prints for summer.

Coach makes a lovely handbag.
