TRUE OR FALSE

I read an article last year that if you want a truly neutral bag, go by your haircolor not the color of clothing you wear the most.

Well, I wasn't going to ditch my D&B black nylon or leather bags. They sure were neutral when my hair was very dark. Maybe they ARE onto something.

Last spring, I purchased a leather D&B bag in mushroom or taupe or elephant (?). It looks grey to me. The hair is now silver/grey, too and darn if that bag doesn't seem to go nicely with everything I put on. I guess a yellow bag for blondes and a British Tan for redheads, etc.

I'm assuming their premise is that you'd wear clothing complimentary to your coloring and therefore your bag would compliment also. @ECBG care to weigh in on this?

What do you think? True or false?

I, too, am highlighted and low lighted and carry a Queork tiger striped handbag. It's made of cork (no leather for me--thankyouverymuch!)

My thing always was to match my sunglasses to my hair color. I mean black is okay at times, but I have to look long and hard for taupe/greyish framed sunglasses.

I have reddish hair and I only buy either black or brown bags. I'm pretty boring. I don't even own a colored bag. My closet is full of nothing but black or brown bags.

I have bags in navy, red, gold, camel, burgundy plus brown and black. Would never think of matching my bag to my hair color.

I think we should all buy what we like, not what random rules tell us to. It ticks me off someone even wrote that article, to be frank.

@Shanus Like @Desertdi , my bag would be striped. As my highlights built up and I "went back the other way" I'd change bags every 3 months.

As a "color" person and professional stylist now, my color is in my clothes. I would prefer the bag to most often be a neutral to keep from being "one more thing" to deal with unless you have a match with shoes. A bag the color of your hair is a constant accent.

A blonde would carry a yellow bag.

If she wanted to do a pink and white outfit, that yellow bag causes her to have a color in her palette she didn't plan on.

Personally, because I am on the selling floor, my bag doesn't matter in a locker. I also don't buy good leather, because sometimes the end of the bag gets bent, and have never loved handbags enough to collect.

Your taupe bag is such a neutral it slides into every palette unnoticed. I can't see a red bag with everything for a red head.

My bag would be white on one side and gray on the other. I do not own a white purse because I don't care for them. I also don't own white shoes.........same reason.

I think you should do whatever you want to do. You know what you like better than someone who wrote a book or an article. I don't care what they think.

FYI I purchased the grey bag BEFORE seeing the article. It just seemed to ring true for me.

I typically carry a bag in some shade of turquoise. It seems to go with everything I wear, but my hair most assuredly is not that color.

@faeriemoon I usually do have one bag sitting on my dresser that's my "grab and go". If I feel like using another one, I change it out, but wallet, keys, small makeup bag, etc. need to be housed somewhere, right? That's why I guess I choose a neutral one for this time of year and still black for winter. I do change to a red bag, too. I've never been a fan of white or bone as someone else mentioned.

I love handbags and won't be constrained to color by someone elses opinion. Nothing like a red bag to brighten up a dreary winter day. Rotating my bags makes me happy and that's what its all about.
