Backpack handbag anyone?

Just wondered if anyone here uses a backpack as their handbag. I've been looking into getting one to use when I'm out and about. Any recommendations?

I haven't really inspected them carefully...but I would be concerned about theft. Seems like someone could bump or brush into you and lift something out of a backpack fairly easily.

I prefer keeping my bag at my side, where I can keep track of it...and who comes near it.

i do sometimes......have purchased a few cute ones from PEACE LOVE WORLD, LUG, and from HERSCHEL.

i got the LUG one from qvc......it is called a "sling" bag.

the HERSCHEL i got from bloomingdales. the peace love world i got from nordstrom rack.

A good friend has a Baggalini one that she adores, especially for traveling and being out and about. It has TONS of security features. It may be this one--know it came with wristlet.

@joannecha I have ordered Fossil's Camilla Convertable Small Backpack and am waiting for it to arrive. The straps can be removed and carried by the 2 handles. It can also be worn cross body or on the back. I plan to use it as a handbag. It looks just like a tote bag. I have been looking for this style of bag for years.

I have two really good quality backpacks that I thought I would use as a handbag on my back. However, I just don't like.

As far as someone bumping into you and taking something out, you can buy backpacks that have security devices that are small.

You can also put your wallet or something else important or valuable in the part next to your back and it's safe.

I wish I could use the backpacks as I paid too much for them to sit in my closet.

I've never carried a backpack. This will sound crazy but I would always be worried about it being out of my sight!! LOL! I started carrying crossbodies for the convenience of having my arms/hands free and I feel secure always being able to see it! I see women at the grocery store leave their bags in their shopping carts and turn their backs or walk away from their cart and all I can think is how foolish they are!! So much identity theft and so much personal information in our handbags, it is scary, for sure! Whew, sorry, that was a long answer! LOL!!

I have seen younger girls, teenagers with them, I would not feel secure with my stuff behind me.

@joannecha , I own a couple. A very nice leather one and an upscale nylon one which I like the best.

Here are my comments. If you buy one, make sure you get one that has a small handle at the top so you carry it that way. I have one that has it and one that doesn't and the one that doesn't have it drives me crazy.

Also, do a test drive on the fit for comfort. Not all wear well I find.

I like my nylon bag better than my leather bag because it is lighter, it is comfortable and it holds a lot.

if you don't have a sling, check it out. I use mine all the time. Wear it cross body. In addition to security features, you can swing it to the side or front if you are in a situation where you are concerned about security or for easy access to contents. I use this a lot more than the back pack style. LM

I have an adorable Lily Bloom backpack style bag with leather accents

It's not my every day bag, I wear it when & where I know I won't be concerned about pickpockets, but it does have zippers. None of my bags have outside pockets.

Sometimes I just carry it over one shoulder, like a shoulder bag. It also has a handle on the top. I really enjoy it.

I have a backpack I use for when I take my dog to the park. I put water, treats and my wallet in it.

There's a kitty one, too, but I don't have it.

I use one every day.

I have Vera Bradley ones in solid black and navy for work and then Steve Madden ones from Marshalls for weekends.

I don't carry it like a backpack unless my hands are full and then I will wear it as a backpack out of the store to my car. It's also helpful when it's raining and I am carrying an umbrella.

I originally bought them for travel since I travel a lot for work. The Vera Bradley ones are very nice for work and allow me to wear it as a backpack and roll my laptop bag and suitcase.

I've never lost anything out of it. It has a drawstring and a clasp.

Going to be traveling out of the USA soon. I prefer a sling bag which is part backpack and part handbag. Just Google Slingbag and see what pops up. I find them that way. Mine has the phone upfront on my shoulder. Not sure if I can say where I got it... but it was not QVC. And the price... around $20-$30. I am sure if the Q had one we would be talking about much more.
