Quit Pushing The Q Card

If people wanted to apply for a Q card they would..I am tired that the last few days every show I watch they are pushing it extra hard! UGH! I realize they are just doing this so they won't offer five easy pays anymore. That is what it seems like anyway..I am tired of hearing it every five minutes though!!!

I receive credit card offers daily through the mail. It's no big deal. I just put them in the pile for shredding. Don't sweat the small stuff.

They have done this on and off for years. Seems to be sporadic. The hosts must hate it too.

Most likely, it's what they are being told to do. It is their job. I can't fault anyone for doing the job they are paid to do!

@nascarfan I am curious. Why would you shred a credit card offer instead of just trashing it. Is there a fraud issue related to credit card offers?

What does offering their credit card have to do with eliminating 5 easy pays? I use their CC and 5 EPs all the time.

If these documents fall into the wrong hands, they can be used to commit identity theft or fraud. Criminals may retrieve discarded credit card offers from your trash or recycling bin and use the information to open fraudulent accounts in your name.

My husband gets at least one per day and it's a pain but we shred every one. Most contain a QR code that takes you directly to the application. I don't think it would be hard to apply changing the address--especially with the lesser known companies.

Just a reminder that QVC is a for profit publicly traded corporation. They are in business to make profit and value for their shareholders. The Q card provides them a lot of additional income. It's not going to stop at this point when they are trying to survive.

You're also assuming that everyone who lands on a QVC channel is an established customer and staying on the channel for some time. Neither of those assumptions are always correct.

It's business. EVERY company does it; online and instore they offer it. If you are tired of hearing it, there is an option but they aren't gonna stop cuz you don't like hearing it.

@KyBlueGal I saw all the perks offered for one and thought it is pretty offensive to customers who have been there since the 1990's who don't get any kind of special or recognition, deal or discount. QVC has never been kind to repeat customers, which I think has come back to bite them. No reason to buy more.

That's really no longer true. We've all benefited from various discount codes and free shipping days over the past year or so.

A Q card is a different matter than just being a long term customer anyway. Assuming you don't have one, you can get one now and take advantage of the perks.

@Mz iMac It never occurred to me that a criminal would dig through a smelly trash bag or large recycling bin just for names and addresses as opposed to just accessing the multitudes of address lists that are publicly available. Maybe if I lived in a very upscale neighborhood? I don't.

I agree wholeheartedly. Many stores I buy from offer perks to loyal customers. Lots of businesses do too; just got loyalty credit from my lawn care company and even my cable company. Nice to know they appreciate your business.

@Q-Checker Now I'm really surprised that you are under the impression upscale & downscale trash is separated. "upscale" & downscale trash lands in the same place.....the city and/or town dump. Trash dumps do not segregate trash. Names & addresses are not the only things of value. Phone #, DOB, last 4 digits of SS#, acct #s etc. ALL personal info is of value.

There are professional dumpster divers & trash dump professionals who collect recyclables from folks who do not recycle. Then you have the professionals who search for bags of the shredder "strips" & "crosscut" trash & another set of professionals who put the "strips" & "crosscuts" together. It's all legal! It's what they do w/the put together strips & crosscuts that turn illegal (ID fraud & scams).

If you buy a shredder get the ones that micro cuts.......

In my neck of the woods if you do not have a micro-cut shredder, you are strongly recommended to visit your community shredder when it rolls through town. Your personal info looks like snow or dirty snow after it's shredded.

I disagree that they are random. I have gotten almost every one I ever see discussed here. Retail marketing does nothing randomly, there's always an algorithm they're following.

As far as rewards, they started a rewards program 2 or 3 years ago. I'm assuming it was an alpha or beta test because I was able to get free tickets to a Radio City Christmas show rehearsal and meet and greet with the rockettes and a few coupons after that, but nothing further.

Like many other companies , it's to snag new credit card customers so that they pay the company on interest that's accrued on their card debit .

Shawn is big on trying to push the card by telling everyone of the incentives such as $50 bonus , but many old people spend all their money or charging credit cards filling up their houses with stuff that they never need multiples of and many unopened boxes . Then the family have all that stuff to go through .
