Disappointed in Kitchen Aid mixer shippment

I recently ordered and received a 5 speed KitchenAid mixer. The mixer had no issues. As always the quality was definitely there. However, my issue was the packaging of the mixer. It was not repackaged and packed inside another shipping box so when I received it I was shocked at the condition of the box. The orginal mixer box was so ragged and looked as though it came out of a bargain bin. I'm surprised it even worked. Not a good look for something that was a gift! In addition, I had paid $20.00 extra to receive it quickly.

I have received many products (not just from QVC) lately without an outer box, just shipped in the product box, like you would find on a brick and mortar store shelf.

I don't like it, especially when shipping heavy objects which tend to get dents and tears in the box.

@SamBrown And that's why the seller should be putting it into an outer box. Then that heavy outer box gets the wear and tear that goes on in shipping. I think the OP has a reasonable complaint.

@shoesnbags but the mixer was intact so no need for another box.

And then the shipping & handling price goes up because of the labor time to repackage. I see messages all the time saying the item might ship in is original packaging.

Ok, but does someone open and use a gift? I realize the box was damaged, but I still wouldn't open it and try it out. Also, with a disclaimer that it could ship in it's original packaging I wouldn't take a chance for a gift.

@Tori3569 Normally, I would agree with you but maybe because the box was damaged she was concerned about the mixer. I wouldn't want to give a gift that I thought was broken. Just a thought.

items such as a kitchenaid mixer DO have a note on the item page that says it "may arrive in manufacturer packaging and display brand name and contents.

This is true but often you only see it if you click on the full description. It should probably be someplace more noticeable from a company that talks about gifting. I think some sights put it on the check out page. Lots of stuff that I don't click to read the entire description for.

when you are buying something expensive @pigletsmom2 , it takes a second to make one extra click on the item page. that is how i personally look at it.

glad to see that a customer service agent saw this thread and is giving a little extra off. i thought that that was quite nice.

Exactly...my complaint was not with the carrier. It was the way it was shipped...not packaged in a box.

The problem, again, was the way it was shipped. Not the carrier, or KitchenAid. It was not packaged properly!!!! Being a gift the KitchenAid box looked terrible and could have been damaged!!!

it is probably directly shipped by KITCHENAID.

it also clearly states on the item page that it may be shipped in its original manufacturer packaging.
QVC gave you a small credit. you also have the option to return it for a full refund. what more can they do @Southern Classy ?

you have a choice to go and find one in a store that maybe "looks better" than what you received.

even amazon ships many of these types of items in its original packaging without being put into another box.

@sunshine45 Amazon gives the option to use their packaging if it's an item that is in the original box.
